Congrats to Felix. His off-speed stuff was nasty today. He was on his game.
Can't believe that of the 23 Perfecto's in history, 3 of them were this season.
The Mariner's announcer... called 2 of them... and a no hitter.... all this year. Guess that's one benefit for being one of the Fox regional sports casters.
Oh wait..... Not Wever... it was probably the Mariners' combined no-no? Unless that was on the road... I don't know though.
Yeah, I heard them talking about Humber's game at Safeco. Who is the other? Weaver?
I tend to agree, but look at what he did as a prospect for the Pirates. He showed huge power potential, but his approach at the plate didn't seem to allow that potential to come to fruition. Also, I think a good portion of the success might be Rogers Centre. It's not uncommon for a guy to have inflated numbers in that stadium than in previous home parks. Bautista gives a lot of credit to Dwayne Murphy to helping him, as does Encarnacion.
Don't get me wrong, I am a firm believer that roids have tremendously hurt the sport. Heck, they came close to killing it IMO. However, as things are beginning to return to "normal" again, I don't think the steroid stuff is nearly as harmful as it used to be. I also think the successful appeal of Braun, and the fact that the MLB has helped in terms of investigations of guys like Palmeiro, McGwire, and Clemens have helped that reputation some.
I think Joey Bats did it the right way, but I reserve healthy skepticism about anyone at this point. I agree that Bautista was a highly thought of player coming up and that the Rogers Centre is a friendly place to hit. However, the level of increase in offensive production is pretty unique. This article here goes by WAR only but it gives some perspective on how rare this is http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/is-jose-bautistas-leap-unprecedented/.
i suggest watching the highlights of pirates/dodgers. entertaining. hanley ramirez is a tool
What'd he do this time?
hit a homerun and while he was rounding 2nd, made a "glasses" gesture at burnett. next at bat, burnett struck him out and told him to sit the **** down. it was amusing to see all the ejections too.
Good for Burnett. He's earned my respect.
Would have been better if he drilled Hanley and struck him out the following AB.... but I concur overall.
Pretty sure he would've been ejected before getting a chance for the subsequent AB
