Andrew McCutchen is in a hell of a slump. Might hand the batting title over to Melky Cabrera after all.

That .380 BABIP wasn't going to last all season.

Apparently this just happened.

The sad part is that he hit a double after the caught stealing. Then scored himself. Could've been a bigger inning if not for that botched hit-and-run.

Allen Webster reportedly is going the other way. If the deal goes through, the Dodgers are adding 270 million dollars in salary. The Dodgers could get pretty ugly with a lot of money committed to guys in their 30s.

That may be the case, but they're going to pushing into the tax here pretty soon. Many of the guys involved in the deal are pretty terrible players at this point making a ton of money. They have 135 million locked up in payroll next season already without those guys and they have 76 million in 2014. Those four players in the Boston deal add 60 million. So without the ability to add anything for next season or resign any free agenst they have 195 million in payroll in 2013 and 125 million in 2014. They are going to be spending more than the Yankees at the rate they are going.

I'm wondering if they'd have enough to overtake the Giants even if they added. AL > NL so maybe they'd have an advantage switching to the weaker league, but still.
