I should bow out because I don't watch any of those shows and can't make a fair comparison. But I did watch cheers and there was never one episode that I thought pushed any limit on what was considered socially acceptable or any theme they took on that hadn't been dealt with on tv before. At least that's how I remember it.

Yeah, but you're a reasonable guy. The PC comedy police ain't.

Are they hiring? Because tbh I'm a little tired of my current gig. They don't have to face down armed criminals or anything, right?

All fucking day. I have probably seen every episode at least twice.

I don't know if I would really classify that as a sitcom, but then again I don't know the proper definition of that off the top of my head.

Will and Grace? Ended a bit ago

But what was worse of it. The disconnect i'm thinking there is in this thread is that others are conflating worse as making fun of concepts like people being ***. I'm thinking, maybe wrong, that blatantly having *** guys kiss and self mocking is i'm essence to you, worse.

Knight Rider was filthy good! KITT and the Hoff were just too much swag to deal with!

Animated series are a different ballgame, much like how South Park can get away with doing what they do because of portrayals(even Matt and Trey point out how they get away with a lot, but only because they fight for everything and get sued a lot, but they state how in the 90s you got away with less because of the PC culture, and how you could do a lot more in the 80s on network TV). And yeah, like you said, not network.

I don’t think FG is that much different than a classic “filmed in front of a studio audience” sitcom. It’s a 30-min show that runs in primetime on a network channel.

South Park gets away with a lot more because they are on Comedy Central. They’ve aired uncensored versions of their show before. Family Guy still has to deal with the constrict of network television. I don’t think it makes a difference if it’s a cartoon character or a real actor uttering the lines.

But really other than FG, you may be right. I don’t know of another network show with the same IDGAF who I offend attitude.

Commercials are worse than Cheers

I think what you would consider offensive and what most other people here would consider offensive are worlds apart.
