Fields: 169 yards passing after 4 TOs by Detroit just isn't going to cut it.

They scored 26 points. That was the 7th points most of any team this week. They had a 12-point lead with 4 minutes left in the game and the defense proceeded to give up 15 points.

In this very game, Tyler Scott dropped a game sealing catch that hit him in the hands. Do you want Fields to go play defense and go catch the ball for Tyler Scott too?

"Do you want Fields to go play defense and go catch the ball for Tyler Scott too?"

Oh absolutely......... and he'd better learn how to do some Neo-Matrix moves that involves good pass blocking for himself too. Or else we better draft a Qb who can like Williams or Maye.

So what we saw today was JF consistently putting the Bear in position to the tune of a 26-14 lead with 3 min left

"Getsy doesn't help, that's for sure. I wish he played more to Fields' strengths."
-TL1961

What you said here speaks volumes. If your OC isn't maximizing and developing the strengths of the Qb......then that seriously hinders the offense. As well as, suspect play calling.

It's like some unskilled mechanic working on your car prior to a cross country trip and your car stalls out in the middle of no where. LOL .....I'm sure we can agree, there's been a lotta stalling with the Bears.
Saying JF consistently putting the Bears in position is a little over the top. The D picked Goff three times.

One Bears TD drive was 40 yards.

One FG drive was 7 plays 20 yards after taking over at the Lions' 43.

But I don't disagree that Getsy is like an unskilled mechanic working on a car.

Fields doesn't get as much as help as any of us would like. That's true.

Squandering that 26-14 lead with 3 min left was painful to watch. IDK about you, but if I'm the Bear GM or VP, I'd be firing somebody tomorrow.

I don't care who plays QB if they're winning games. I do hope that whoever is making the decision on who the QB is in 2024 is not Ryan Poles, Matt Eberflus or Luke Getsy though. Those guys aren't it either. Clean house of the GM and coaching staff and let the new staff decide on what to do with the two top picks. Cool by me.
Put me down as someone that does care who is playing QB even if the Bears are winning. I’ve seen enough “we get off the bus running,” “footbaw,” and defense wins championships that lead to 8-9 win seasons and getting booted out in the first playoff game (if they make it). I want to see a dynamic playmaker at QB that’s exciting to watch and can make plays or put up points to go toe-to-toe with top offenses - not winning games 9-6 in an absolute snoozefest or knowing if you get down by a td, the Bears are going to lose because they can’t score.

Fields is exciting to watch and if he continues to develop, could be that playmaker. Please no more watching Kyle Orton go three and out or putting in Peterman for Hail Marys because of a noodle armed QB. I don’t want to go back to hoping the defense scores tds because the O can’t. I hopeful for fields and that he continues to play well the rest of the season and further grow.

If not, let’s not settle for another game manager QB or someone who is quality backup worthy like Bagent. Can’t we get a modern offense and not be stuck in the past?

I was doing some gentle comparisons between last year and this year.

The offense, oddly enough, has gotten better and likely would be putting up better stats had Fields not gotten hurt. That's just the data. Now, does the passing offense need to get better? Sure. Absolutely. But the offense is producing more yards and touchdowns than last year without Fields going God Mode. So that's the silver lining.

With that said, you do not lose a 14 point lead late without somebody getting axed. The buck stops with someone and that is the HC. Flus needs to get canned.

My guess it will happen during the bye week after we lose to Minnesota.

I actually liked what I saw from Fields today. Couple wow plays, limiting the bad decisions. Moving the chains with arm & feet, hitting guys in stride, spreading the ball around. Overall, pretty consistent and solid (Even down to the 1 fumble per game). Didn't hurt his trade value. 🤷‍♂️

Fields played well yesterday. The coaching is woeful so makes him harder to evaluate, but his last 4 games have been very good and should have resulted in 3 wins rather than 1. I would be happy to see what he could do with improved coaching but if Poles feels Williams or Maye could be better then he should draft them.

He showed improvement. Protected the ball. Next step is consistency. Lots more games left. This season feels like it's at a snails pace, probably cause the bears were out it after a month, heh.

Per game notes, the Bears should have had least a 2 td lead at the half. So many whiff opportunities to put a team away.

Williams or Maye won't make difference with this coaching staff.

Fields wasn’t the reason the Bears lost this game, but ask yourself:

Knowing Fields limitations, what he can do and what he can’t do, is this really the guy you want your favorite team to hitch their wagon to long-term?

Fields is not a good passer overall. He just isn’t. Can you win with him? Sure, if you surround him with all great guys. But at that point, why not just try for a better QB?

You’re fighting against the grain. You see the talent. You just want it to happen so bad.

But it’s just not going to happen, guys. Make peace with it now, or you’ll be forced into accepting it later.
Why are bears fans so against adding talent around the qb?

Did all those other teams get gifted 4 turn overs and a safety from their D as well?

Fields was not the main reason the Bears lost, but at this point the only thing that matters the rest of the season is evaluating Fields. And I'm sorry but with all those turn overs he got 3 points out of it?

And once again Fields had a chance for a game winning drive and he turns it over.

So that performance he was "fine" but fine does not stop the GM from replacing you..

The Bears' D did not record a safety. Did you watch the game?

Coaching staff won't be here. New coaching staff is going to want their own QB. The good thing is if Fields keeps playing well, he is going to continue to raise his trade value. He is bringing back a 1st rd pick.

Fields played well overall, was more timely and crisp than before the ding. That said, he did miss a long ball or 2 that were on him (the late throw to Scott was a very good throw and all on Scott). He had an outlet wide open on his 1st sack which is one of the markers I want to see improve and he held it too long on the second one. At that point I'd rather he throw a pick than effectively end the game eating it.

This loss was on the coaches and their lack of understanding on how to close. Prevent D and turtling into an inside runs game against a stacked front was why the bear lost. Lost opportunities on those 2 JJ dropped INTs contributed as well. I wonder if his price has dropped, LOL.

Also adding later that they using an outside zone guy to run that inside game instead of Roschon was also a mistake. More Getsy madness.
