Hope he's out one more. Let him come back after the Thursday night mini bye and have the rest of the season as long as he stays healthy.

Just for the storyline, I want 2 rookie qbs facing off. The #1 pick from Alabama competing for national championships vs undrafted division 2 qb. Both coming off 3 interception days. Bears aren't competing for anything so might as well have a fun storyline. Let Bagent go back to the bench hopefully looking better with a 2nd win under his belt.

Wasn't Goff the hot talk for a while? And then he wasn't.
So you're crowning Stroud forever based on 8 games? There are no calledits for being hot for a hot rookie the media is hyping. If he stays hot you have no chance at getting him on your team. If he doesn't you probably don't want him on your team unless you're the Lions.
But being the Bears we're in luck, a flash in the pan QB would be an upgrade for us.

Fields will look a whole lot better than before with the type of protection Bagent got yesterday. The Saints really didn't get close to him until the 4th quarter.

need to stack wins. like 2 in a row? baby steps.

protect the ball and show up in the 4th quarter. too many negative plays which kills momentum and fires up the other team

Ruthie Polinsky knows her shit

Surprisingly, Patrick has been "ok", but the squeaky wheel is now Whitehair. He totally has lost how to block properly. Nate Davis coming back will be great for the line. They are actually performing fairly well overall lately, and can be even better moving forward.

Patrick is fine except for the penalties, and still a few really bad snaps a game. Bagent bailed him out a couple of times against Saints and Chargers.

In theory yes.,....dude still needs to get rid of the ball and struggles with progression of route tree......he already had the longest time from snap to thrown in the leauge.

Really don't think he struggles with progression. There's too much tape showing his eyes going thru progression. His problem is timing/trust in the timing.

Yea, not sure how anyone still thinks he's bad at progressions. Its pretty clear he see's the open guys but doesnt let it rip for one reason or another.

If anything, his pre-snap reads are his biggest struggle. That first sack against Minny should never happen.

Bagent got rid of the ball fast. If Fields does the same, he will have time as well

And that is how you don't score many points in the NFL.

Fields needs to learn how to get rid of it fast at times too, but bagent did it because he cant throw past 10 yards

The question is, if he plays, will he "play free."

If he "plays free," it'll be the same old slop . . .

. . . Those who know what the shoopster is talking about know what the shoopster is talking about . . .

Panthers have the 28th ranked run D.

Just line him up and tell him to play the triple option.

Or just... I don't know, taking a huge leap here... run the ball thru their porous run D, then play action.

And that is total nonsense. With quick passes the Bears had 250 yards offense in the first half against a premier defense that gives up 290 yards per game. They scored 14 first half points in first half which should have been 17 points, missed easy FG. So, with quick passes equates to 500 yards and 34 points.

In second half, they had Bagent standing around in pocket looking downfield for someone to get open, then forced passes when it didn't. Offense collapsed.

Trying to use the fact that Bagent gets rid of the ball quickly to take a shot at his physical skills is a strange approach. We all know Bagent is a backup who was embraced by Bear fans hungry for something positive in yet another season of absolute dreck. His Cinderalla story provided that.

Yes, he has physical limitations. Most undrafted free agents do. But the reason The Kid gets rid of the ball quickly is not because he knows he has a bad arm but rather because he has been coached to do so (like all quarterbacks are) and he has the aptitude to process it and translate it to the physical. The latter is where Bustin Fields appears to be limited. And that's a red flag, because quarterbacks who are slow at processing what is happening don't succeed in the NFL.

You can run real fast and throw the ball a long ways, but if you can't master processing and timing you're dead meat in the NFL. It's what separates the professionals from the amateurs. Which one is Bustin? He has 8 games to show us; 8 games, frankly, to salvage his career as an NFL starter. If he implodes as badly as he did at the start of the season he can go the way of the Trubiskys who came before him.

That's it, fellas. You either have the heart and head to play quarterback in the NFL or you don't. It's a bad sign when a first-round draft pick doesn't seem to have that, and it's a doubly bad sign when he whines about "too much coaching" when they try to spoon feed it to him. Like the shoopster said elsewhere within this thread, if Bustin plays Thursday, and he "plays free," this whole thing is only gonna end up one way . . .
