Maybe he will be, maybe he wont be, but I dont think his first 3 games provide enough evidence to make an accurate conclusion on his career.
Oh for sure, but it would seem a generational guy coming into the best situation a #1 pick ever has, would do better than this…wouldn’t you agree?

Maybe he isn’t the generational guy we were told he was then??

I think the word generational is used too much by the media and then hence by the fans in general. The fact that it is used seemingly every other draft, if not every draft, shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what the word means.

Disagree, I think "generational" is a loaded and overused term that doesnt actually mean anything but sounds important . But from a macro level I dont think the Bears drafted CW because of what he does for the team in 2024 - if hes doing this in week 3 of '25 or '26 im with you, him doing it in his 3rd real NFL start doesnt move the needle as much. I thought him throwing for less than 100 yards in week 1 was a much bigger red flag than anything he did today.

Are we really making decisions on a guy’s career after 3 games?
No, I’m questioning whether or not he is the generational talent that we were sold he is

Apologies for daring to question dear leaders greatness

Agreed. That’s been my point all along, that he is likely not generational due to the definition of the word

It was others insisting otherwise that is the issue you speak of

And you expect an answer after 3 games?

As far as my excitement for Caleb Williams goes, it's still there. Obviously not the start anyone wanted, but I think he has shown signs of growth every game.

I am excited to see him start making connections with Odunze. That is definitely something to build on.

The Fields cultists are really riled up after this one. There was obvious growth from Caleb showing his potential and they don't like it. They are using bad coaching and rookie mistakes in a guys 3rd start to sling mud at him. It's ridiculous and tiring.

Yeah, they def drafted CW with only years after 2024 in mind. That’s why they traded for Keenan Allen right?! Lol

Cmon man, the bears have a playoff caliber roster outside of QB is what I was told by many here and that Caleb would instantly be better and an upgrade to our last QB. That CW is geneational

Maybe you weren’t 1 of these folks that touted this stuff, but it absolutely went on and to act like it didn’t is silly

No, hence why I said I was questioning it. I didn’t say there was concrete evidence yet either way

Its because he threw for 370 yards but still looked pretty damn bad.

MAde all the same mistakes fields made, he just threw 50+ times. He also is still wildly inaccurate downfield. Thats the most concerning part.

If you let any QB throw 50+ times he better have 300+ yards.

Not Fields cultists, simply Bears fans that could care less about passing yards and realize we would have won if not for Caleb’s 3 turnovers and multiple inaccurate passes to open receivers.

Im ecstatic that Caleb William is putting up a normal/healthy volume of passing yards while adjusting to the NFL - I think that is more important to his development than wins where he throws for 93 total yards in a game. I also believe this team is not primed for a deep PO run and so developing CW is more important this year to me than the difference in going 7-10 versus 8-9 or 9-8 or whatever people rooting for wins at all cost are hoping the team gets to.
Agreed.

I’d be far more concerned with a win but 110 yards passing.

I want wins of course, but I am not concerned with that as much at this point as I am in seeing progress. That’s not saying we just want stats. It says we can see that it’s a progression.

Behind an OL that can’t protect he still avoided sacks often and shows more than any QB we’ve had recently.

I think Keenan Allen was brought on to be a safety blanket/help development for CW his rookie year (he hasnt been) and also so they didnt have to reach for a WR if Odunze was gone at 9. I dont think he had anything to do with expecting a deep PO run even though he would be useful if the team did make it there. And im sure Poles thought if they had a good run he could just bring him back, but KA trade by itself isnt compelling evidence that the expectation was PO wins this year.

I dont give a shit what posters other than me said on this board, i dont know if you expect me to answer for them but i wont beyond "meatballs gonna meatball". Youve seen this OL - is this a playoff caliber OL? obviously not. the DL has been better than expected but is still at best an average unit.

I agree a ton of the fanbase talked themselves into a PO run way before the team is actually ready for one - but these are the same people that thought we would be 9-8 in '22. Im not acting like it didnt happen, im acting like I wasnt one of them because I wasnt.

Or maybe not have a TE trying to block a defensive end one on one. But he isn't responsible for that or calling an option play on 4th and goal

Okay, and if you weren’t one of them then you weren’t one of them…why you responding like you were then??

And yeah, sure they brought in KA just for those reasons. Why did they sign swift and trade for a pending FA pass rusher for this year then??

Just all to help CW develop I’m sure is your answer

The bears front office was thinking playoffs this year whether rightly or wrongly
