If you spent 7 months applying at Fast Food jobs and couldn't get one, you don't deserve to work anyway.

CODE is obviously not talking about well-paying/career jobs. We're discussing a job just to the bills covered.

Very true, I'm not applying for those jobs but nonetheless, 18% or almost 1 in 5 people in the state of Illinois are unemployed. I don't really think it is a laughing matter.

ya it depends on the circumstances...the kind of job that would be helpful for someone like joe at this point in their "career"(temp. bill paying job) are really not that hard to find

i understand in this economy, some higher level jobs are hard to find...

depends alot on what kind of jobs you are applying for...

That's a load of shit. I was layed off 7 months ago and have been working my ass off to get a job. Atleast 20 interviews and hundreds of applications/resumes sent in. I have 4 executives using their network looking for a job, including my father, who is a CEO, and STILL nothing has turned up.

Don't take a situation like this lightly. And please don't talk out of your ass.

it is rare that I agree with gunz, but.........well put!

what type of company is your dad a CEO of?

The shit it out there in the real world is fucking legit. What Gunz is saying about his dad who is a CEO and helping him find a job, and still no luck happens everyday to those who are hooked up, and yet no job. That is how bad it is out there.

For those who think it is easy to get a job out there if you "try" really hard, are fucking delusional.

Read Forbes, Wall Street Journal......****, if that is too complicated for some of you, go to CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News . It is pretty bad out there.

I saved up a ton of cash, so when I lost a stable job, I had to go off and do free lance work. Some weeks I make a considerable amount more than others and I definitely make more than what I used to make, as a GM.

Sometimes it's about a change in philosophy. Plus I volunteer at a lot of local organizations, for the parks, and I do a big brother program. If it wasn't for the people that I met on a weekly basis, I would have nothing.

Making resumes, sending them out, driving around the area doing interviews.... is the traditional method, and it's a failure for most. Go out and socialize, meet new people, get to know them, kiss their ass a little if you have to, and you will meet people who need to hire someone. It costs far less to socialize in person, than it does to get in an audition for x-job, behind 50 other applicants.

Of course it's not easy. You have to work to find a job. I'm pretty sure no one here is denying the fact that the job market sucks. Unemployment is at a disgusting rate. But my point is that you have to KEEP TRYING. HARD.

But yes, if you put in the time, effort, and energy, sooner or later you will find something. That I guarantee. I'm definitely not saying that you won't have to bust your balls though. I did, and I'm glad I did. I got promoted in less than a month. I'm doing more work, but it's better pay.

Nothing is handed to anyone anymore. It's the reality of this world.

Are you applying online? Online applications are the worst. Only apply online if that's the only way

I bagged at Kroger and then did customer service. Bagging was legit. Easiest job ever.

I only bagged when I wanted to. I asked them to bag because I was sick of dealing with Special person customers.
