My buddy caught a 50 inch Muskey on Marie a few years ago. The Chain has some seriously big Muskey and game fish, but it's still over fished too.

Lake Geneva has great Smalley's, Eye's, and Northerns.

Delevan is good for Bass, Smalleys and Lrge Mouth, some Eyes and Northern.

Door County, just between GB and Lake Michigan is awesome fishing. Moms husband got a 12lb Eye there last year. We used to Charter there every summer and would max out on Koho and Chinooks...

There is alot of awesome fishing within driving distance of Chicago.

Pools number 6-11 are great on the Mississippi at all times of the year other than when the River is high and the fish are all over the place. You name the species and they are in the Mississippi. I fish up there a bunch of times during the year as my Mom lives in Praire.

Almost any body of water near Chicago is over fished.

The chain, if getting there early, isn't too bad boat traffic wise. Geneva is a great, big, deep lake. Lots of places to fish. Just like the chain, though, it is like a giant bathtub. Once the boats start going, it gets real choppy.

You just have to get there early or late. Overnight for eyes at Lake Geneva is fun. I grew up there almost every summer as a kid. Delavan is not bad eiher. Chain, is just over used period but there are times there's not a boat on Marie.

Ever fish in Southern Illinois? 5hr drive from Chicago and you have Rend Lake, Crab Orchard, Devils Kitchen, Cedar Lake, Little Grassy, Lake Murphysburro (3lb red ear) Kinkaid(spillway)... All with giant lrg mouth, Devils Kitchen is one of the best rainbow trout lakes in IL, Kinkaid has eyes, Muskey... So many do not realize the fishing in So. IL.

Lake Shelbyville is awesome Eye fishing.

When you have a population of 9 mil there are going to be a lot of people fishing, but you can find times when theres very little traffic on most lakes, other than the chain. More idiots in boats on the chain than ANY water I've ever been on.

Whenever I've been out there the police boat is very busy writing tickets. I'm sure they rack up a lot of revenue from those idiots.

I've been wanting to fish shelbyville for awhile. I'm not too far away, just haven't had the time, or a boat.

have fished there many a time. Some of them I remember and some I don't. Always a great time though. You must have a boat too. Maybe I'll grab the boat next summer and pick you up on the way down.

I learned to fish as a kid on Shelbyville. Some times a couple of times a year we would be down there. I have not fished it since I was a kid and would love to get back down there. I have pictures of picnic tables covered with crappies and blue gills that we would then clean and devour.

Yea the Crappies get bigger the farther south you go. As you know. Just like the Lrg Mouth. Crab Orchard is a great crappie lake. So is Rend for that matter. Always better to have a boat though.

My Neighbor hit a rock last week and sheered the scag off the Crestliner I sold him. Funny I sold it to him with the Scag missing. Look on my Dads face when I hit that rock at 40mph was priceless.
