Pace identified QB as our problem during '16. He probably did before '16 but it became critical then and also strapped by contract. Now we have a completely new QB group, all new, through the draft and FA. He also did the same for the DBs, four (3/4 on Sunday) new starters.
Pace has shown he will address problems thoroughly. My guess is we will see at least two new starters (and very possibly three) on opening day next year.
How nice would it be for Trubs to have a "go to" receiver for the next ten years. As DezBears mentioned the Good - Greats have a number 1 guy.
Although I might view some other positions in the draft as more important, why not complete the potency trio... Great QB, Great RB, Great WR.
We have QB and RB... lets go get our WR, our Aikmen, Smith, Irvin; our Montana, Craig, Rice; our McMahon, Walter, Gault (...oops that might be stretching it).
I say if a Number 1 wr hits the market in FA, give a more than fair offer. If not, get a potential number 2 wr or a minimum the best available wr in FA.
Also draft the best WR that our pick allows. I am fine with first round, but if an Alshon Jeffery, or many other very good WRs last until 2nd rnd that will work too. yes i know there is no way of knowing who is going to last until 2nd rnd.
As OP mentioned to look for receivers that match up with Trubisky. I would say since he places the ball so well that route running and savviness might be more favorable that burner speed and size. Excellent hands is a MUST.
"6. Bellamy, he will never be cut." LOL
