Too many unknowns at this point. They need to draft at least one or two and pick up at least that many in FA. One of those FAs need to be a bigger name, more proven player. Pace has done a mediocre job at WR, to say the least.

I would feel the same way whether we end up 9-7 or 3-13 again.

You don't even know who's coming out this year. You can't say that. If they were 3-13 that's a premium pick. Maybe the next Urlacher is available? WAAAAAYYYYY too early to speculate about any draft stuff.

Cam Meredith was not a #1 WR before he tore his ACL.... idk why you would pencil him in as our #1 WR next year.

IMO that is as bad as Pace having penciled Kevin White in as a starting WR for this year.

There is no way to add a #1 WR without using a 1st round pick, which has a ton of risk involved.

It would be more like a bunch of #2s.

WR is the strangest position in football. It's important, yet not SUPER important at the same time. Example, the Giants have Odell Beckham, right? Well according to a stat I heard on MIKE&MIKE this morning, the Giants have a 7 game streak(going back to last season) of scoring under 20 ppg. Another team to look at, the Baltimore Ravens have 2 Super Bowls wins since 2001 with Ozzie Newsome half-assing the WR position. Who does KC have this year besides Tyreke Hill? It's so weird, you can have 2-3 studs at the wr position, yet not accomplish shit as a team. Yet some teams have gone relatively far with that being the weakest or one of the weakest units on their team.

Would love to see Pace get aggressive and go acquire Landry if his trade value is reasonable, and then sign Allen Robinson in FA. A-Rob and Meredith outside with Landry in the slot would give Trubisky plenty of weapons and we could target DB/OLB/OL in the draft.

More realistically, Decker could be a decent target. He's on a cheap one-year deal and the Titans are finding out they don't really need him now that Corey Davis is healthy. Late rounder for Decker and take a WR in the first two rounds would be a lot better than going into next year with Cam and Kevin atop the depth chart.

I do not think they are going to invest in 2x 10 million plus WRs.

Yes, this makes sense, but I wouldn't be surprised to see an offensive lineman drafted earlier. What's funny is when we needed a quarterback, any time somebody suggested drafting a QB in the 1st round, it would be attacked by 20 people (particularly Cutler fanboys) saying you have to draft BPA.

Yeah beyond the argument of who is a 1 or a 2.... I can ignore that aspect.

I mean for the Bears.... I don't think we should assume Meredith will be a 1st or 2nd option.... he tore his ACL and will still be recovering next year.

Going with Cam Meredith and Kevin White this year as our top 2 WRs was a bad decision, I don't think we should count on either of them to be top options for next year.

CB will have to be the top priority next year before WR. As it stands right now Prince and Fuller will be gone.

Hey guys remember back after 2013 when we had not just one but TWO 1000+ yard receivers?!? Pepperidge farms remembers.

Let's all reflect back on that one brief moment in time when the Bears actually fielded a legit NFL caliber offense... good times... good times....

Pace identified QB as our problem during '16. He probably did before '16 but it became critical then and also strapped by contract. Now we have a completely new QB group, all new, through the draft and FA. He also did the same for the DBs, four (3/4 on Sunday) new starters.

Pace has shown he will address problems thoroughly. My guess is we will see at least two new starters (and very possibly three) on opening day next year.

How nice would it be for Trubs to have a "go to" receiver for the next ten years. As DezBears mentioned the Good - Greats have a number 1 guy.
Although I might view some other positions in the draft as more important, why not complete the potency trio... Great QB, Great RB, Great WR.

We have QB and RB... lets go get our WR, our Aikmen, Smith, Irvin; our Montana, Craig, Rice; our McMahon, Walter, Gault (...oops that might be stretching it).

I say if a Number 1 wr hits the market in FA, give a more than fair offer. If not, get a potential number 2 wr or a minimum the best available wr in FA.

Also draft the best WR that our pick allows. I am fine with first round, but if an Alshon Jeffery, or many other very good WRs last until 2nd rnd that will work too. yes i know there is no way of knowing who is going to last until 2nd rnd.

As OP mentioned to look for receivers that match up with Trubisky. I would say since he places the ball so well that route running and savviness might be more favorable that burner speed and size. Excellent hands is a MUST.

"6. Bellamy, he will never be cut." LOL

I know that the 2018 QB is one of the most eagerly anticipated and highly rated of all time. 3rd overall pick next year can be exchanged for a treasure of draft capital with a team looking for one of these QBs. I hope Pace is smart enough to take advantage of that.

You think we are top 3 again? I'd say top 10 is a safe bet, but I'm not sure we crack top 5 in the draft.

This conversation is more premature than my first visit with an Amsterdam whore....

But I digress.

Agree relying on White was borderline negligent.

I just do not see how they are going to add someone who will displace Meredith as well as filling the #2 and #3 spots. I think best case scenario we are looking at

FA: Pryor, Robinson, Landry
2nd Round Draft Pick
Wright
Meredith
Gentry/4th round pick
Bellamy

Andrew Luck has TY Hilton
Ben Roethlisberger has Antonio Brown
Dak Prescott has Dez Bryant
Tom Brady has Julian Edleman
Andy Dalton has AJ Green
Carson Palmer has Larry Fitzgerald
David Carr has Amari Cooper
Matt Ryan has Julio Jones

Mitchell Trubiksy has Cameron Meredith???

Get this kid a real weapon. First round or later we need a true number one WR. If there is one WR I want the Bears to trade for is DeAndre Hopkins 5 years and never missed a game. It's unlikly but possible if DeShaun Watson has a bad rookie year. Jadeveon Clowney is going to want a monster contract after 2018 and Texans might not have the money.

hopkins just got extended they not going to trade him. they saved good chunk of money by trading away osweiler. clowney not going anywhere either.
