Would the Jags trade Minshew and #33 for #20 before the draft? The Jags don't have to give Minshew up but there's also no reason for them to keep him with Lawrence coming in.
They will always need a back up.

From Mike Kaye who covers the Eagles

There’s a sense that the Chicago Bears -- another interested party -- are growing impatient, one of the sources said. According to the person, the Bears believe the Eagles have overvalued Wentz.
If I am Pace, and I want Wentz (why on god's green earth I don't know) I tell Howie, this is my final offer, you have 24 hours to accept it or we are moving on, then let it be known that the Bears are out of the Wentz sweepstakes.......................thus driving the price for Wentz down even farther.......

Pace is going to destroy the franchise this offseason.

Let’s let him do it in the draft. At least we have a chance of landing a franchise guy.
At least hopefully leave something good for the future GM and HC. One less piece to worry about.

My overall point was that the Bears need to restructure should they trade for Wentz. Could they make it work without doing so. I suppose they can as you pointed out.

But if we are trading valuable capital (1st rd pick + 3rd pick) why not try and restructure and save money.? Why rush everything to happen before the 10 mil roster bonus kicks in? We do have some leverage. And if another team wants to pay that price, so what. Walk away. Its not worth over leveraging ourselves for a QB that has been through injuries and is coming off a very poor year.

Eagles are acting as if they should get more. I say hold firm. If anything threaten to lessen the offer and let the clock tick closer toward 3/19
I'm not saying not to restructure, and I didn't advocate for not doing so. But I don't thin the bonus angle will really provide any leverage.

Probably not. But if he is going to burn it down then burn it to the ground. Don’t burn have the franchise and leave the next guy trying to salvage anything. Make the move and either nail it or destroy it... no middle ground.

This is also my preferred method of spending an absurd amount of draft capital. If you're already in the realm where you're scuttling future drafts (and it's not for someone like Watson) roll the dice on a rookie. Nothing hobbles a team quite like sending multiple first round picks, and eating a huge contract.

Were you not paying attention to the Mathew Stafford trade? Seriously?

Did Stafford go for 3 #1 picks?

I must have missed the third one... ?

Look, 2 #1s is reasonable.

I am specifically talking about people who talk about a third #1 or else overstating the cost.

The Stafford deal is reasonable compensation. But people claiming a trade for player x every year would essentially exceed the Stafford deal are being completely foolish and hystrionic.

No he won't.

He already destroyed it with shit contracts, we don't have enough cap room for him to ruin this team.

Worst case he'll set us back one additional year by giving away picks for a scrub like wentz.

I agree, draft a QB, but we all know pace/nagy are desperate. I just don't believe their desperation will hamstring the next GM too much as long as pace doesn't find a way to give out more dumb contracts this year when we have no cap room.

I've always figured this was the end of the window(2021 season). If this team fails to make a legit run this year it would be a massive rebuild year next season no matter what.

Watch the bears give up a first
They’d be idiots to.

Should hold out and force them to drop their demands. Either you get Wentz for much less than asking price or you miss out... would anyone really care about missing out?

Looks like Bears/Colts are calling Eagles’ bluff. ‘Interested 3rd party’ probably doesn’t exist and all this smoke is coming out of the Eagles’ ass.

Agreed. I really hope pace doesn't bet against himself again and offer a first.

Give them a 2nd at most. Worst case scenario swap 20 for 37.....That way you can trade up to around #20 again if you want with you 2 second rounders.

Could probably live with swapping #20 & Foles for #37 & Wentz.

I just hope they do kick the can down the road into a situation where the Eagles are desperate. Their demand is a bit ridiculous, I’m of the opinion they should be giving up Wentz plus 2/3rd round pick just to offload that contract.

The longer you holdout the more the Bears can make it work for the Bears. I like Wentz but there are so many questions, giving off a Jay stink too.

I agree with this. If you're going to give up multiple early round picks for QBs that aren't Deshaun Watson, I'd rather trade for Wilson, Fields, or Lance. Would have those guys for 5 years at a fraction of the cost and at least a draft pick would have 4 years with a real coaching staff.

Not having a 2022 1st after 4-12 is easier to swallow with Justin Fields at QB rather than Carson Wentz.

Simms said sources he trust say that Wentz prefers the Colts - big surprise!

Florio says that the Bears are Patsies in this situation as Howie is just using them to drive up the value and he wants Wentz out of the NFC.

They both said Wentz will walk right into controversy in Chicago while there will be far less of it in Indy.

This leads me to think this...

If Wentz truly wants to go to Indy ( and who would blame him ) and the Bears want him to restructure, couldn't Wentz just say no and in effect, kill the deal.

It would be very hard to believe that Pace makes a deal w/o a contract restructure while knowing Wentz doesn't want to come here.

It could also be that Florio/Simms are the Patsies......

If they land Wentz, I hope they also dump Danny T on Philly. Awful contract--$13 million to cut him
