well the pistons did just sign bg. With stucky playing sucky, they might be in the market for pg. and bg probably misses his buddy.

Fred, what do you have against the north shore. Not all of us are whiney kirk hinrich fans.

I don't have anything against the North Shore. It just so happens that many of the postgame show callers I heard in 2003 and 2004 happened to be rabid Kirk lovers from a North Shore burb. "This is Tom from Winnetka", "This is Porter from Highland Park", "This is Mark from Buffalo Grove". It's just my opinion, but the 100-level season ticket holders are big Kirk backers, and most of those 100 level guys aren't coming from my hometown of Oak Lawn. Count how many #12 jerseys you see at the next game in the 100 level...It will be #2 to Rose. Reinsdorf coddles these 100-level season ticket holders, and if these fans had supported better players now departed, we might be closer to a title today.

It's funny because as much as Fred complains about Hinrich getting a pass, I see more Hinrich hate than Salmons hate (eg just look at the threads on the board) despite the fact that Salmons is playing worse (which isn't to say they aren't both playing crap).

In fact I'd go as far to say that most of the Hinrich getting a pass comes as a reaction to people like Fred who like to point out his flaws as often as possible. Gotta root for the underdog and all! ;)

#1. I don't hate Hinrich. I think he's overrated and overpaid. There's a big difference. I'd love him if he was making 3 million, and his fat salary didn't make resigning Gordon impossible.

#2. I don't see the Hinrich hate, and I don't hear it on the airwaves. He gets a pass. Maybe not on this board, but we represent .005% of the fans. Steve Kashul, Harry Teinowitz, heck, even Steve Gorches reach a lot more fans than we do.

#3. Is Salmons playing worse? It hard to argue about levels of suck. You can't argue that Hinrich is getting paid 9.5 million this year to suck, and Salmons is getting 5.4. Why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why do we expect more out of Salmons? Shouldn't we be expecting more out of the Captain?

Fred, those guys don't even watch the game. They are the ones always shown on the phone texting during the 4th quarter. I doubt they would even notice kirk was traded if you replaced him with another token white player. As far as the callers, yes, most from the north shore are the most annoying people you will ever meet in your life but they just like being on the radio because no one ever listens to them unless they have their wallet open. But I am surprised they call in, despite living in the area my whole life, I rarely encounter anyone who has watched a post dynasty game or has anything to say about the team. In fact during the past 4 playoff runs, most didn't even know they made the playoffs. I am amazed they actually call in about the bulls.

Where I live, the story is this...(please excuse any racial undertones)

Hinrich is the "great White Hype" of the Chicago Bulls. He is seen as a mainstay because he has been the only decent white player on the team. So he is NOT expendable. According to those I know, the Bulls cannot wait to put his number right there in the rafters next to Sloan.

I don't think that is the case at all. I do think that there are people who like Hinrich's game just like they like others on the team. Of course I wish he would play better. I wanted the Hinrich we saw in the playoffs last season. But he has struggled and I wish for the sake of cleanliness and fairness, VDN would call him and Salmons out openly. Because they have been bad. Maybe Ozzie should coach the team for a day and threaten to make changes...I don't know, I just hope things change soon. But I know a lot of people who don't like Kirk, though I disagree with their premise.

Meh, consider "hate" to be a shorthand for "overpaid and overrated" then.

No doubt my perspective is skewed by not being stateside. But on the internet I find Hinrich is fairly unpopular. So really it comes back to me not understanding why you choose to get your NBA coverage from sources you know you'll disagree with and make you angry.

I'd salary actually matters more the other way because Hinrich doesn't have an opt-out clause he's rapidly sucking his way into not exercising, thus hurting our cap space.

Kirk's salary is larger, but Salmons' could be the key to the off-season, depending on where the cap falls. Hence to me, Salmons being bad worries me more.

God... wouldnt that be great

This team is driving me crazy. While I try not to think to much of what coulda been (with BG) watching our offense is.. offensive. And not only is our offense bad but it doesn't seem to be allowing rose to flourish. Maybe i'd feel better if we looked this bad and he was avg 25ppg. Maybe then i'd be able to see a little bit of hope.

Seriously Fred, I think we could out shoot most of the team right about now.

Roseland is a district...like Humboldt Park? Chatham? Hyde Park? Beverly?

Roseland is where that boy got killed in that mob and they caught it on cellphone video.

I am in Washington Heights, that is a bit south of Roseland, right on the edge of Chicago.

Fola, I would 100% rather see you take an open jumper than Kirk Hinrich right now. I am much more confident in your jumper than his. And you're way better at taking the ball to the hoop.

What are the major crosstreets for Roseland? Is it near 95th and Stoney Island? I was hit in the back with a 2 x 4 back in 97 outside the Verson Steel plant there. That area is brutal.

Oh ok, I had no clue, I typically stay in the suburbs and only go in the city occasionally.

Kirk Hinrich is just bad, bad bad bad bad.

I wanted him to be good. I thought he could win 6th man, but this is it. Kirk Hinrich is who he is. And the 06/07 season was the best we'll ever see from him.

But he'll continue to get a free pass in the media because he's the "Great White Hope."

that's the truth. I've talked about it with Fred off-air because I didn't want to go there on my show, but it's the truth in the case of Hinrich. When Isaiah Thomas said it about Larry Bird he was dead wrong, but it's true in the case of Hinrich.

Someone needs to explain to me how Ben Gordon can lead the team in scoring for 4 straight years, hit all the big shots and be the best offensive weapon, but he gets ripped at every turn. But Hinrich can make twice as much ans suck twice as bad. But it's okay. Why?

It's a race thing, clear as day. The great white hope.

Not that's there's anything wrong with it. I told Fred that the 12-year old white kid in Naperville (that's the town I used, did't pick on the North Shore lol) shooting hoops in his driveway looks up to Hinrich. He gives him the feeling that "if Hinrich can make it, so can I." And there's nothing wrong with that. I also use Yao Ming as an example, I'm sure billions of Chinese kids look up to him. Nothing wrong with it, we just need to tell it like it is.

As yourself this question. What would the level of criticism be if Ben Gordon had put up numbers like Hinrich???
