More cap space

Field Yates - "Source: in advance of free agency, the Bears have created $2.25M in cap space by converting the $3M roster bonus due to DT Eddie Goldman this Friday into a signing bonus. Extra money to work with."

Jason_OTC - "While the #Raiders have a ton of cap room remember they have some real big expenditures in cash this year. Their top 4 draft picks alone will cost $39.6M and whatever they are paying Brown this year is a new add on."

Wow...this guy is really on top of things!

Still don’t think the Bears are done clearing space. Will have clear as needed.

I'm told #Bucs WR Desean Jackson had direct conversations with the front office over the weekend about his status & trade considerations. Those discussions included interests on both sides & they're on the same page. I previously reported Jackson wanted to move on from Tampa.

Great stuff on how Eric Weddle ended up signing with the Rams. @MMQB says the Bears "were chomping at the bit" to have him in Halas Hall first. His price tag was 5 million plus incentives. Sounds like Adrian Amos was not the Bears first choice.

With the #Bears having seriously pursued Eric Weddle, that tells me Adrian Amos is gone.

When it comes to the #Cowboys, the safety market & a recent report that they may be involved in a "bidding war" over the top-tier talent at the position, I was told last night they "aren't getting into any bidding war. We have a value we would go to for the player."

Teams have called the #Vikings about the possibility of trading for CBs Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes, per @AlbertBreer. Free agent market for CBs is not deep...

I think there is going to be a surprise signing when free agency opens for the Bears, especially after adding more cap space today.

It is looking more and more that the Bears will be getting a comp pick for Amos next year. Doesn't look like he will be back.

Hopefully someone is dumb enough to pay Amos based on his PFFPoints.

Damn. We really missed out on an aging safety that didn't make many plays last year.

He was still very good last year. Hence why he was signed immediately by a super bowl team at $5m/year.

Same amount of turnovers as Landon Collins btw.

#Bucs are bracing to lose WR Adam Humphries and/or LB Kwon Alexander to free agency. Humphries could get $9-million to $10-million APY with Jets as a big suitor. Alexander is being pursued by the Jets and 49ers and seeking an elite deal between $10-million $12-million APY.
