so what exactly did Poles mean by living in the gray? and doing right by Justin?

Not a media person but the actual GM. If you think the Bears didn't have discussions on Fields, I have a bridge to sell you. They clearly set a price too high and teams balked. Now he looks like a moron
He started that with "if we get to that point"
IF being they key word

Or he set a price too high because he never had a real interest in trading him

Or he’s just been listening to offers and hasn’t “set” any price

Or asked for a fair (2nd or 3rd round pick) price but teams don’t even wanna give that up.

Too many variables. At the end of the day, none of us know shit.
It would be a highly unusual management tactic to put Fields through this process if Pudge Poles always intended to bring him back as The Franchise. If they are NOT shopping Fields (which I highly doubt), they've sure allowed a whole lotta disruptive and demoralizing speculation and criticism. Bringing Fields back at this point would be the most bizarre thing I've ever seen a General Manager do and only those desperate for a Fields redux would dare suggest at this point that this is all part of some genius master plan.

Per CCS's homepage itself, Poles - like everyone else - appears to have over-estimated interest in Fields. At this point the Bears have lost all leverage in this process and Poles is likely licking his wounds, regrouping, and likely preparing to fend off Ginny, King George and Warren from using this as ammunition to alter his real master plan. Indecisiveness at this point will only wake up the comedic committee the Bears have formed to tackle previous difficult franchise decisions, and we all know how poorly that's gone . . .

Stop being dumb. There is no way in hell Poles trades Fields before seeing CW medicals. Unless of course the CW group insist and then I am sure Poles will jump to their demands.

They went kinda big right out the gate at the two deepest and likely cheapest positions in FA, S and RB.

Not a huge fan of that but I do like both players.
Poles surprised me out of the gate with both deals, not sure his plan.

Fields does not need to get better. The entire organization needs to get better around him. Sheesh!!
This must be sarcasm without the font. The rest of the roster did not make him hold the ball too long, completely not see open receivers, or not know how to stay in the pocket or play on time. He’s a bad qb by every measure except rushing. Can we just accept the truth and move on?!

The level of Stockholm syndrome with Fields insanity with this fan base.

You have no idea what the Bears are talking to Fields about....

It just reinforces that the media is a garbage heap of know it all nobodies...

It doesn't reflect on the players, only the trashbags that comment on it.

If you can build me a personal bridge from home to work I’ll believe whatever you want me to believe.

NOPE

Keeping Fields and finally surrounding him with talent.
I’ll help you finish the sentence, “Keeping Fields and finally surrounding him with talent… will show he’s always been bad and is a sure fire way to have another top 3 pick next year after the Bears are awful once again because their QB is a RB.”

Wouldn’t be unusual at all if you consider the position the bears are in with the #1 pick. Would actually make quite a lot of sense.

You make it sound like they’re putting fields through a gauntlet. They’re not putting fields through anything. His daily life is exactly the same. Is he uncertain and in “the grey” as poles put it? Sure…but that’s life in the NFL. Players are involved in trade speculation all the time. It’s not all that unique or dramatic.

Kevin Warren power play could be the reason. I mean he wanted his rental dome on the lake why not believe him when he says he wants to keep Fields and trade the pick? He is a complete moron and it would fit right in with doing the opposite of the obvious that has haunted this franchise for 35+ years.

Think its more likely the bears don't mind having fields and caleb compete, or they may not even have caleb as their top QB.

Even if they keep fields I'm pretty sure they are taking a QB in round 1 either at #1 or via trade down.
