Either would be good signings. Hicks probably offers more upside and size. Howard started out great last year but kind of faded as the season went on.

Also, I think the Bears might be able to sign both of them for what Jackson is reportedly getting.

Bruce Irvin (OLB) or Mitchell Schwartz (RT) - If Bruce Irvin then I'd cut Willie Young to offset some of Irvin's spend and go for Jeff Allen (RG). $9.5m a season (save $3m)
* I accept neither Irvin or Schwartz will happen but just saying what I'd like to happen.

Isa Abdul-Quddus, David Bruton or Tony Jefferson (SS) - cut Antrel Rolle. $2-3m a season but save $2.7m.
Rahim Moore (FS) - 1 year vet minimum
Garret Graham - 1 year vet minimum
Brandon Boykin - $2-3m a season. However (and it might be difficult) but would like to see if we can draft a corner in the first two rounds.

Notes: -

- I am interested by Daryl Smith (ILB) but probably only on a 1 year deal or 2 year contract with 1 year guaranteed if we don't manage to get ILB in the draft.

- Given what Dwayne Allen has just got I'd keep Bennett and try and work it out for now. Hopefully he has a great year in order to get a long term contract with the Bears or elsewhere next season.

Plenty of good players in round 1 or 2 other than Buckner.

I don't think any of them have the upside that Buckner has.

This guy can be scary good and he doesn't just look the part like other guys.

Hicks seems like the better 5-tech player vs Howard but Howard's versatility is intriguing, played a lot of NT as well. If we're only going to get one, I'll take Hicks, similar upside and a tad cheaper.
