This is a question of availability. Brown and Jones are not available and will never be available.

Landry is available and is the best possible solution to the Bears issue.

I do not really care about the nit picking of his production, we need the production. If he catches 100 passes and gets 1000 yards I do not care if he catches the ball 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage and breaks 11 tackles to get 8 yards. We need the production and he is the safest bet to do it.

Catch rate should be higher if he's catching passes 5 yards in depth. And those guys deserve more targets because they actually get over 12 years per catch consistently and score TDs.

You do realize he is a slot receiver so of course his avg catch should be less and his catch % should be higher then any receiver playing on the outside. I am still waiting to hear any reason why he would be a mistake, the only remote thing is MODO suggesting that he may be a locker room cancer which I think is a reach.

His production and consistency rank among the top in the NFL. His price at 14M avg should not be an issue on the bears team. There is no reason to carry over a high cap number when we are trying to develop a young offense. There is no real holes in Landry's game, if you see one please point it out to us.

Based on the last 4 years of catch % and yards per catch this would be the yards produced by each player per 100 targets‬

‪Alshon Jeffery: 790‬
‪Davante Adams 688‬
‪Jarvis Landry: 713‬

‪Jeffery (13/season) Adams (14/season)‬

‪I not sure Landry at 14/season is “overpaid”‬

I gave you a link. Here's the link again. https://fullpresscoverage.com/2018/02/11/bears-shouldnt-sign-jarvis-landry/

And yes, I do realize that he's a slot WR. Do YOU realize he literally had lowest ypc of ANY slot or outside WR except Cole Beasley.

I know Adi posted a bunch of highlights and everyone went crazy. I could post highlights of any WR and make them look great. Not saying that Landry isn't a very good WR. And him not missing games is a huge plus. But he's not even the best at what he does. I'd argue he's not even the best available slot WR. And when you consider all those things in that article above (which doesn't even mention cost until the end) he's not at all worth the money he will seek/get.

In 2017.

In 2016 he was well above the league average for slot WRs,

Cost should not factor into this decision as much as it is for some people. I felt the same way, but the Bears have no cap issues and they have major talent issues. Saving 6 million on Landry is not going to magically go to landing Ziggy Ansah. It is going to adding another Marcus Cooper.

We are comparing Landry to a bunch of guys who are not available and who will never be available.

If I could sign any WR in the league, he would not be in the top 15, but I cannot go and steal franchise WRs off other teams.

We need to base this off

1. Who is available
2. that 13-14 a season is NOT elite WR money.

I'm having trouble with your link could you post the article. Or even snippets.

Could you please post your list of best available slot receivers.

He wasn't in terms of DVOA. He's literally never been above average per Football Outsiders. And 2016 was the outlier in his career. More than a yard and a half more per catch than the only 3 years, 2 of which were more than 3 yards lower per catch.

Ideally, Landry would get 90-110 targets. After that it becomes detrimental to the team to continue throwing him the ball and getting little yardage. The more he gets the ball, the more the Dolphins lose. And if he only gets 90-110 targets, he's not worth the money. And it's not just about this year. The Bears have to pay Fuller long-term this offseason. Not to mention potentially Goldman, Amos, Meredith next year. Howard, Whitehair, Floyd (5th year option), and others are coming up after that. And you'd still like to add more talent before you have to (hopefully) pay Mitch 30Mil/year.

Allen Robinson and Sammy Watkins are better and as available as Landry is right now.

13-14 Mil is most certainly elite WR money. There's like 1 WR that gets paid more than that.

without looking it up Davante Adams, Mike Evans, Hopkins, and Brown all get paid more then 13M.. and anyone going forward who is a #1 will certainly make a lot more.

Highlights? I posted like 40 clips, all from 2017 with Cutler.

Don't understand the point of this. You saying that's not elite WR money? 4 WRs get paid more than 14Mil (Evans is not one of them). Adams technically isn't one until 2020.

Antonio Brown [17/season] and DeAndre Hopkins [16.2] are the only "elite" WRs that have signed extensions in the last calendar year. Neither even hit the open market and make way more than 13-14 a season.

A.J Green [15 million], Julio [14.25], Demaryus Thomas [14], Dez Bryant [14] all signed their deals 2 years ago and inflation alone would move them significantly above that number.

My guess is if either had hit the open market they would have been 18-20.

I apologize. That wasn't a shot at you. You make amazingly well-thought out threads. But my point is that Landry is not that special. His stats are pretty empty in that I feel like anyone could put up 112 if they got 161 chances within an average of 6 yards from the LOS. And nearly everyone actually did do better than 8.8 yards per catch.

2016 Out of the WR who finished in the top 10 in receptions only 4 had more yards per reception then Landry. So, there is defiantly no case to say Y/R is a weakness.
name rec y/R
Fitz 107 9.6
Antonio 106 12.1
ODJ 101 13.5
Edelman 98 11.3
Jordy 97 13
Evans 96 13.8
Baldwin 94 12
Landry 94 12.1
Thomas 92 12.4

You can't just "guess" that with no precedence. Just like you pay on the open market, you pay to keep guys OFF the open market.

The Bears offer to Jeffery was more than what he got from the Eagles. But it didn't keep him off the market, because it wasn't enough. If Hopkins didn't get that amount of money, he'd be in this free agent class (more likely franchised).

Bullshit. There's 3 other years to say that, including the most recent one. Go ahead and cherry pick that one year that's the clear outlier so far though.

No one is trying to sell Landry as a special talent.

He is a super consistent and productive talent, and outside of the fact that there are 0 special talents available, we need consistent and productive.
