Ya'll must read the books. The books give you a deeper meaning to their philosophies and gods. and then most of you NON-readers are missing out on the stories of old and the story of Aerys.
I hope we can at least get some flashbacks of Aerys or the First of Men. that be nice bout i doubt that..this story is not for the weak, hell it's darker then almost anything i ever read. unless we're talking politics.

really excited about this season. even though ive read the books and basically know what is going to happen, i have no idea where they are going to start and finish this season.
there is so much shit that's supposed to go down they wont be able to structure this season the same way as the last three. this season may actually be the best yet.

The first 3 books of the series (Game of Thrones, Clash of Kings, Storm of Swords) are some of the best fantasy written in the last 50 years. Unfortunately for the last 2 books, Martin has been a victim of his own success. They aren't bad, but not to the standard of the first 3. Feast for Crows was a bastard of a manuscript pushed out too fast by his publisher. A Dance with Dragons was better (particularly the 1st half) but still suffered from Martin's excess. A lot of those issues *should* be ironed out in the show because they're doing a nice job adapting the source material.
Btw, I heard Martin is intending to fall back on prequel material if the show catches up with him too quickly, which it undoubtedly will based on his time between books.
