Dany's been a psycho. Didn't she crucify people, and kill leaders that were "against" slavery in Meereen?
She did. She's also had no issue burning people alive. Her singular focus on the show has been ruling on the Iron Throne. If anything, her character departure was delaying the King's Landing battle in favor of stopping the NK.

And they did practically nothing to actually develop that.
Oh, come on. Did you watch the first 6-7 seasons at all? They are MANY times where she's on the edge of doing some power-hungry, horrible thing and someone pulls her back from the edge:

Or when she just goes ahead and does said horrible thing, for that matter. (Putting all the people on stakes outside the city, torching those who won't bend the knee, burying people alive in a vault, etc.)

Until last episode she had not murdered any children, so I think Dany turned a corner. Yes it is absurd how quickly she went from rational to homicidal.

E3, Rational
E4, Pissed
E5, Murdering children

A few weeks ago I predicted that for Dany to go full mad queen they would need to time jump 2 years forward for her to descend into madness. I was wrong, they just said "**** it, she went crazy overnight".

I have no problem with the way Dany's character has "turned," (I may have even #CALLEDIT) the issue is how quickly it's done. They did a real disservice to the viewers who appreciate the development of a character.

Yes because I form opinions based on what critics and fans say. You liked the last Jedi because of the critics’ reviews I take it?
Call me crazy, but I'm one of those old-fashioned people who just likes what I like or what entertains me for an hour or two. I don't need critics or other fans or social media people freaking out to validate whether I liked something or not. It was fun to watch total destruction last night. Sure, this season feels rushed; it's not the end of the goddamn world. The series as a whole is some of the best television, imho, I've ever watched. Some of you take this shit way too seriously.

Correct.
Sure, I think some things could have been done better but for the most part--its been a fucking great series even if there have been some major holes this season.

First comment:

I have to laugh. For several years I was in favor of a "mad queen" arc, and indeed I still think it could've worked fantastically. Yet now I find myself distraught and flabbergasted with so many people feeling this was actually executed well. Put it this way: you can talk about all the above moments in isolation, yet still feel that Dany was overall a good, righteous, and big hearted leader worth following as much as anyone. (The show wanted us to feel this way!!! You will not convince me otherwise) This holds true literally through episode 3 of this season. So the question, the disagreement between fans I guess, is did the writers plausibly take enough time to credibly shift her from that fundamentally good person to a madwoman? And I (and clearly a lot of other people) feel the answer is a resounding "no". You can't just flip seven seasons worth of someone's primary characterizations on their heads over the course of 3 hours and call that good writing. Not without much, much better circumstances and motivations than what D&D came up with.

LOL, no. Having her on the brink a few times in 7 seasons is not many times. Yeah, they laid out that she'd probably lose it, but it was mostly on the lower end of the scale. Then she just suddenly goes full out psycho ***** crazy. That's terrible writing. There's a reason they went overboard talking about it and showing it over two episodes, because they know they didn't do enough to properly develop her descent into that psychosis.

When a show lays out a format that's entertaining, then puts out a product that is insanely rushed and fast forwards over major plot and character development, it isn't as entertaining anymore. There's a difference when I go to watch something like Fast and the Furious vs. Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones was entertaining because of the story, not the visuals. I've come to expect a gripping story.

Crazy. I can’t remember the last time someone invited Trubersky onto a show like this.

Right it’s like this show wasn’t about cgi destruction if I wanted that I would watch transformers part ten-a bunch of cgi destroying each other with no coherent story. This season has been one derp after the other. Hopefully by time derp&derper are ready to release their Star Wars trilogy my nephews won’t ask to go see it

A buddy put it a great way, "It's as if they got Michael Bay to direct a story written by Stanley Kubrick."

my main issue from last night's story is how Cersei dies. After all the evil shit she put the Starks through, I was disappointed to see that a brick took her down

Last night was the first time I'd turned off an episode midway through and said **** it i'm going to bed.

Reading that reddit spoiler has completely ruined the ending of GoT for me. Couple that with just how absolutely shit the ending is and I'm almost glad they're going to bury this show next week.

After all the anticipation for two years. The writers took a big fat shit on this thing and it's terribly disappointing.

Hey guys, how can we make Dany go crazy in only a few episodes?

Let's have Jon Snow find out he's a Targ in the first episode. Then he'll tell Dany in the next episode. Then, in the next, we'll have one of her best advisors be one of the two major characters that die in a fight we've been foreshadowing for seven seasons. Then we'll have Jon & Varys betray her, easily kill off Rhaegal, have Missandei as the only character captured in a siege and then beheaded in front of her. Oh, and we'll talk about it a lot and have camera shots of her looking angry when they talk about Jon Snow. Make sure Jon not giving her the D be the final straw. That should do it. Now we can show her suddenly act out of character and slaughter women and children. Yup, completely foreshadowed in the episode prior.

Dani been teethering on crazy from the beginning...her going mad shouldn't surprise anyone. She's been power hungry forever.

So I'm curious...is Arya dead? or did she die and come back to life? I feel like that white horse has to be some kind of metaphor

Absolutely nothing about her heel turn makes sense. She won the fucking battle, easily. There was literally no reason for her to burn down the city.

Further, for as harsh as she could be she never once hurt civilians, and suddenly she's burning an entire city of men, women and children? **** off.

It's a metaphor for "I have no fucking idea what I'm doing with this character, but I need her to be alive, so deus ex horse. Now I'm going to go roll around in my HBO money"
