Neither party has done well on this issue. The commodities market hasn't been addressed by either party. Luckily now fuel economy standards are being increased but that will take a decade to have an impact. I live in a community with 3 major oil refineries within 15 miles. But people don't usually want refineries in their towns. They are huge, and dirty and put out pollution. Much like with nuclear plants there is a big NIMBY phenomenon. US production is actually up since 2009, Obama caught at a lot of flak from liberals for allowing more offshore drilling literally a week before the BP disaster. Obama as usual is trying to please all sides, and as usual no one is happy. They have been pushing their all options strategy. Basically we are doing everything: drilling, refining, alternative energy, natural gas. But there is little a President can do. Oil prices dropped after '08 because the economic downturn lessened demand and the commodities markets crashed but now as the recovery starts slowly the prices are spiking.

I just face palm this. You have no idea just how partisan you come accross, do you? Now had you bitched about these same concerns during the previous administration, which FYI were just as valid THEN, I'd give you more credit. But because you didnt, and ONLY bring them up because there happens to be an administration you don't like, I don't.

The previous POTUS did some pretty bad shit and I don't remember you saying dick about any of it.

You really are funny. I predicted you would chim in with that same old worn out response you have been using since Obama took up residency on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.. I won't even bother with my same old response because frankly neither has anything to do with what is occurring today or what could be happening in the future.

Now, want to debate my actual response? If your response even mentions Bush in it I won't respond because it has no bearing on today.

If it wasn't actually valid, I wouldn't chime in on it. I'd actually debate you but for the fact the only reason you are bringing it up now is personal, rather than actual policy. Or you would have said something about it during the previous administration. Which, I clearly don't remember you doing so.

It has bearing where "YOU" are coming from, which is where I went. And frankly what happened 8-10-12 and even 15 fucking years ago has 100% validity to whats going on today. There is ZERO argument to said statement. Unless of course the person is an idiot.

Doesn't he still own Citco? Or did they sell that money maker off?

You'll/They'll never please all sides. Not possible. Just like I seriously doubt anything would be better with another bone head in the WH. It would be the same partisan bullshit it is now.

Again as long as they bet on Futures Oil will go up and down accordingly.

Best thing I heard recently was someone blaming the Obama administration for the housing market crash, because he wanted to see all Americans in homes regardless of whether or not they could afford it. PS the crash started way before Obama entered the race, let alone the WH.

I bring this up, because I feel the same debating tactics are being used here.

The root cause of this issue is that oil and gasoline are traded on the commodities market. Period. There is little that can be done to keep the commodities market from doing what they do (ratchet up the price of l-s-c barrels and gasoline barrels on a whim). The solution is to stop trading them on the commidities market or at least stop trading gasoline there. Then pricing would follow domestic supply and demand pricing models better because the company that refined the oil and transported it for sale at the pump would have more control over said prices.

But you have great health care. Bad dental, but great health care!

haha it's less than great, and it's bankrupting us all. Because it's government run, they make the last choice on everything. My dad had to wait TWENTY YEARS to get his knees replaced. When they finally replaced them they said "my god, you have no cartilage at all, your bones have been rubbing together for so long that they are wearing away, you must have been in a lot of pain" No shit, if he wasn't he wouldn't have been fighting to get this done for twenty fucking years.

Plus, we still need coverage to cover treatment. What's the point of being able to go to the doctors if you can't afford the medication? Not to mention all of the doctors leaving for the states because after accumulating over $100k in student debt, you are paid only $10k more than a highschool teacher.
