HOW TO WATCH

Pat Foley and Eddie Olczyk have you covered on NBC Sports Chicago with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30, while John Wiedeman and Nick Olczyk have the radio broadcast of tonight's game on WGN Radio.

VS. NEW YORK

The Islanders defeated the Blackhawks 4-1 in the first meeting of the season at the United Center on October 19. MacKenzie Entwistle scored the lone tally for Chicago with Kirby Dach and Erik Gustafsson notching helpers on the play.
Jonathan Toews has a point (2G, 1A) in three of his last four games against the Islanders. Alex DeBrincat has a point (1G, 2A) in two of his last three games against New York. Patrick Kane has points (8G, 6A) in nine of his last 11 games vs. the Islanders dating back to Dec. 13, 2014, including a five-game run from Jan. 20, 2018 - Dec. 27, 2019 with four goals and three helpers over that span.
Chicago has won 11 of their last 16 games against the Islanders and have registered a point in 13 of those matchups (11-3-2).
Interim head coach Derek King was selected in the first round (13th overall) of the 1985 NHL Draft by the Islanders. King scored 211 goals and added 288 helpers across 638 regular-season games with the Islanders. He posted career highs in goals (40) and points (78) during the 1991-92 campaign.

CAT ATTACK

Alex DeBrincat scored his 14th goal of the season on Saturday against the Rangers, giving him goals in consecutive contests (2G, 1A). His 14 markers share seventh in the league.

JONES-ING FOR MORE

Seth Jones skated 29:43 of ice time on Saturday night against the Rangers, his second highest mark on the season (31:24 vs. PIT on Nov. 9) and highest among regulation contests. Jones added an assist on both Blackhawks goals bringing his season total to 18, which share second among NHL defensemen.

Props to Stillman for standing up for Toews.

And even though I know the monent we trade him away (if we do) he'll go into beast mode, but Dach has been underwhelming...like he's looking like a Cam Barker-level 3oa pick.

Before going home I stopped off at Hooters for a plate of wings.

When the know it all Hawks fan sitting next to me at the bar said Gus has been the best defenseman on the team, I slipped a note to the bartender with a 20 dollar bill to cut the guy off.

She kicked him out.

I just said we didn’t need that type of toxicity in such a wholesome establishment

This is a game they should have won but it's still infuriating they've only lost 4 games under King and still in such a coliton sized hole. Or even more infuriating is now they are only 8 points out from playoffs but it's still not a playoff team. So all they are is a season of futility

The play of Flower, Jones, Kane, Hagel and Cat are keeping this team afloat. Flower has been incredible lately.

Dach is elite…. on the boards. For the nothing he brings offensively I’ll give him props for being a complete monster in board battles. Today he was just from an easy look around 90% success rate in retrieving the puck along the boards. It’s almost certain if he goes into the corner chasing that he’s winning the puck. The problem starts when he has it on his stick. There has to be something fundamentally wrong with him where as he doesn’t have the vision to see a play in front of him. And no, it’s not his wrist. This has been an issue since juniors where as back then they said he would grow and experience out of it.

I always said if you put Dach with Kane you are hiding Dachs weaknesses by allowing him to get charity points feasting off Kane. Turns out, he’s such a black hole he couldn’t even do that much right.

Dach was at his best on a line with Hagel and Hino last year. All that speed and aggressiveness complimented his game. Why, in gods name, isn’t Dach with Hagel and Slavin? Who is winning me over slowly with his compete. A line of big, fast, tough kids?

KBIB its almost as bad as Foley and Edzo saying how great deHaan has been tonight. All I ever see is blocked shots because he created that opportunity to begin with. I loved Edzo but listening to him night in night out on a hawks broadcast... with his Howie Meeker style geez.. he's not like this when he does another market game for espn or tnt

Another close win, Fleury has been playing outstanding for this team lately, giving them the chance to earn a W. NY was desperate for a win, going without one for 11 and the Hawks shut the door. Decent Road trip, the uphill climb continues, but looking somewhat better.

I mentioned this in another topic, This is on the Hawks organization and there lack of developing talent. It’s a reoccurring theme for this team and has been for a while. Dach, Joker, Hartman, even Boqvis, Mitchell and Beaudin just to name a few. The teams draft picks for the last 10 years have amounted to nothing, hence why we still hold on to players like Toews, because the Hawks have no other choice.

lol @ some of these posts!

Vancouver Canucks had huge expectations this year. Ooops@ They just cleaned out the front office and are in worse shape then the Blackhawks in the standings.

Islanders were another team who were perennial 100 point franchise who were on the cusp of a cup. Ooops, they have fallen hard in quick time.

Blackhawks? Love it or hate it, you witnessed 3 cups in your lifetime scrubs

Dach does a lot of things right for a young player. His puck protection in the attack zone is strong also, as he's learned to use his body well. The guy has been getting A+ chances all year. The only thing that's missing is his finishing ability and face-offs. He back-checks really well and is smart in all zones.

People evidently like to shit on the guy and I get the frustration at times, but I would not give up on him yet. I would also not trade him yet.
