I have watched ever WC since 2006 and Germany is my favorite team

I have religiously watched every WCs between Espana 82 and France 98 (was actually in Paris when that final happened). Moved to Montreal in 2000 and discovered hockey and later the NFL.... I have a really hard time to motivate myself to watch a soccer game now. Too slow and too little happens.

The Germans were always a finely tuned and reliable war machine. You know exactly what you get with them, like with a Mercedes.

That being said - US had a good game today - and Ghana had more skilled players but they seemed selfish too often. I especially liked when that US player defended the Ghana one from getting a red card from the referee - that was high class fairplay, something you don't see too often in soccer.

There is too much randomness in the WC - anyone can win on a luck moment or a bad referee decision.

Good luck to the US team next - they'll need it.

Soo true. My best friend talks shit and is a Germany fan. I thanked him for another title for Italy in 2006. I thought the refs would swing the game for the home team but once we beat Germany, I knew we had #4.

Let's just hope Brazil doesn't get #6! Scared of homefield refs though

Watched the WC in Munich and these dudes were hyped. I was actually surprised at how many Germans were rooting for the US although I suppose a lot of thag has to do with Klinsman.

There is nothing like watching a soccer match in a soccer nation though. They had a massive projector set up at thw Olympic stadium as well as others in the English Garden (park bigger than Central Park).

As for the game, the US will definitely need to perform better to defeat Portugal and Germabny. It was an uneven performance and Ghana particularly Gyan missed a lot of good chances at goal. Gyan looked like a dude still shaken by that missed penalty against Uruguay after the Suarez handball.

We did not play particularly well....and still won. (a good sign) Injuries....might be a problem...but Klinsman might have enough depth on the bench. Bradley had the worst game I have ever seen him play. What....?! Did he chug a bottle of cough syrup before the game...?! Terrible. Should be benched.

There are usually 1 or 2 surprises in the WC in the final 8. And 1 surprise in the final 4. Hoping the US could get lucky & sneak in this time.
