I'm getting sold on Cook as well and Kessler ain't bad either. I still like what Goff has to offer but it's hard to know how these guys will acclimate to the NFL. GMs and scouts do this better than us and get it wrong every year.

Dude I really want Kessler in Chicago, & I usually cannot stand the idea of having a USC QB. Yes a staple of the USC passing attack is the infamous dink & dunk where kids like Leinart & Sanchez got padded numbers behind YAC machines like Reggie Bush. You will see Kessler setting up check downs, & doing his share of dinking & dunking, however he also has consistently made plenty of beautifully thrown sharp, crisp accurate 30, 40, & 50 yard strikes down the field with an excellent natural compact delivery, footwork & form that also stems from quick sharp decision making, going though his progressions & anticipating targets on their reads beautifully.

I'd love to see Kessler on one of those dominant USC teams like Leinart played for. Kessler reminds me of Pennington with a much stronger & accurate arm. Kessler doesn't have a cannon, but he has more than enough arm strength needed with excellent accuracy. Right now I'd almost be willing to give my left nut to get Cody Kessler & Derrick Henry in this up & coming draft.

I watched a usc game where he consistently over threw his target. There isn't a qb at a major college i want less than Kessler. Having said that, he did make some nice throws against Utah but didn't seem like the game was ever handed to him to win.

Manning currently has the weakest arm I've ever seen on a starting NFL QB. Weaker than Penningtons which also negates that point. Fitzpatrick is no star but is doing well this year without a gun. Of course you want arm strength and should be wary of those without but it's not an absolute.

And Manning still has a better / stronger arm than Goff...

I think Goff has average to above average arm strength I've seen him make some deep throws this year, the problem is they more than likely aren't on target it seems when he goes long, it's usually too long or he makes his receiver stop.

Sorry to just cut out the majority of your comment but a big part , if not the entire reason, why Goff is off target when throwing a deep pass is because his arm is so weak he has to overthrow the ball. Also Goff throws a lot of ducks and that's because he is overthrowing the ball and or his hands are to small to correctly grip a football...

I'm not a fan of Goff and if it were my say, i wouldn't draft him before the 4th round. To much of a gamble to waste a high draft pick on a QB who played a gimmick / spread offense and has a weak arm.

I guess you could say that, but to overthrow a target by 5 yards on a 50 yard hang time isn't exactly a weak arm but I see your point it's not an Aaron Rodgers deep ball on target kind of arm.

32-3 and very few picks tells me Connor Cook has that covered.

Hahahaha the mental part of the game is much more complicated then if a guy wins games in college or how many int's he throws. MUCH MORE TO IT.

If you have watched him play, Which I'm guessing you haven't, he rarely if ever throws into Double coverage and visibly surveys multiple options in the pocket which is all mental. His ability to win, and win in big games, due to preparation is also mental. His accuracy to throw back shoulder away from defenders consistently is a product of his mental reaction to the play unfolding before him. Does that clear it up for you? Or are you really just Mentally Special person.

I didn't like Leinart or Sanchez coming out. They were exactly what the NFL likes to overdraft. I think Goff has a better chance of aclimating but there will be growing pains.

LOL, even Rodgers doesn't hit all of those.

I think Goff has all the tools to be successful in the NFL, except the build! I can't see this guy making it through 2 NFL seasons alive, or, at least in one piece!
Young kid he has a good frame.....3-4 years from now he will definitely look the part and he definitely plays the part.

Exactly this, as a huge big ten follower Cook is being sleeped on. He's probably the best qb to ever play at MSU and this is coming from a Michigan fan who's wife went to MSU and is a huge follower. He's a winner, 31-3 as a starter. 3-0 in bowl games including Rose and Cotton Bowls. He's been making great throws to where the receiver can only get it, NFL throws.

MSU also has tons of injuries on their line and he continues to impress. MSU also doesn't check it down to their running backs much so his completion percentage isn't great but he also has barely any turnovers because of his NFL throws. He's gotten way better this year at not locking into his targets. He doesn't just throw it to Burbridge who's there number one guy he spreads it around.

If Cook and MSU beat Ohio State and make it to the final 4, mark my words he will be the 1st overall pick or at least first QB off the board early in the 1st in the draft.
Cook looks the part but his pocket pressence and awareness just seems very basic. He seems like a one read QB. A college QB at his level at a top program should show way more..

Undersized
Weak arm

Undersized? Yes, but I don't buy into size & measurables much with QB's. Give him a decent line he'll be fine.

Weak arm? Not True at all. He doesn't have a cannon like Cutler but he has a good arm with superior accuracy. He may not be able to throw the ball 60 yards to the wrong team like our current QB but he can consistently throw strikes for 45 to 50 yards on a dime.

Propped up by superior talent really made me laugh. If you actually believe that this USC team is a superior talent you clearly aren't watching the very player you are analyzing & are talking out of your ass on this one. Goff & Cook have superior talent. Kessler & Hackenburg do not.

I hate USC & usually hate the idea of having a USC QB, but this kid can play & I want him in Chicago. I believe that, barring injury, he will lead some franchise to success in the pros. On top of this I don't even believe that hell get drafted in the first round jusst because of his size which would allow the Bears to get a good QB, & draft either that much needed OLB or CB in the first.

You must've not watched him much this year compared to last couple seasons, people are praising him for not being a one read quarterback this season. He goes through his reads this year very well.

Sorry, but I gotta disagree... Kessler most definitely has superior talent working with him. The team has been losing games and has been disappointing, but that's more due to poor coaching and not due to a lack of talent. Just look at his WRs of late: Robert Woods, Marquise Lee, Nelson Agholor.. these guys dominated in college and were 1st and 2nd round picks. He currently has Juju Smith and Adoree Jackson among others, who will also be first round picks. Not to mention a deep stable of running backs. 4-star and 5-star recruits littered everywhere on the roster.

I love Kessler's accuracy, but I don't love his arm, which I consider to be barely serviceable at the NFL level (although I have noticed it getting stronger with each passing year, but still not NFL strong). Another big knock on Kessler is that he usually comes up limp in the big games, the last one against Utah notwithstanding. A strong contingent of USC fans actually wanted him benched in favor of Max Browne after the Washington loss. He may turn into a serviceable backup, but I can't see him as starter material. I'm a USC alum, so I hope I'm wrong, but I've been able to tab their QBs pretty well. I thought Palmer was worthy of the #1 pick, but I went so far as to say I wouldn't even draft Leinart. I'm pretty sure he'll be available on Day 3 of the draft, so maybe you'll get your wish since Pace seems to be collecting Day 3 picks. One thing I will say, though, is that I am intrigued by his accuracy. Many coaches believe that's something you can't teach.

That's nice that your an alumni but I don't have to be an alumni to know a good player when I see one.

It's not superior talent. At least not in the comparisons that people want to lump Kessler into having when the likes of Leinart & sanchez were there. Plus their defense is not very good. I've seen Kessler play a lot of flawless games with excellent efficient production without committing turnovers only to have their defense frequently give up close to 30 or more unanswered points. Kessler has one WR that had any significant playing time from last year. Yes he has good players, it's USC, but when you compare them to the teams around the other talked about QB's like Cook, & Goff (I like both), superior is not the word.

BTW I love Kesslers accuracy. I'm looking forward to seeing Goff & Kessler this Saturday. I'd like to have both. I believe Goff has the higher ceiling where I think Kessler being acclimated to a pro style offense can help a team right away with his accuracy.

I've been watching Kessler for close to two years now & have heard all of the weak arm stuff from people who want to judge this kid by his size & predecessors. He does not have weak arm. He doesn't cannon either. He has a good arm with incredible accuracy. He can consistently throw the ball 40 to 50 yards sharply on a dime & I know because I've watched him do it a number of times. His arm strength combined with his accuracy is actually perfect for a current pro style of play that lives & dies by efficient mid range passing attack & shitloads of it.

QB's just don't need a cannon for an arm, especially nowadays where the middle of the field is there for the taking due to overbearing rule making. Back in the 80's & 90's teams built around the run & short passing game to set up the deep ball. In that style of play, strong arm goons with average accuracy could get by because they could rely on a good running game, slants, & game management to set up deep passing.

This is why strong armed QB's with horrible mechanics & average accuacy like Cutler are going to become dinosaurs. They already are. He's just not good enough to go blow for blow without committing turnovers, & you can't just rely on running the ball & good defense to make up for it anymore. A QB has to be able to throw the ball a lot without mistakes with efficiency. Teams are throwing the ball over 70% of the offensive snaps this year. I remember correctly he exact number was 73% when I last saw the percentage.

Nowadays the NFL is mostly a wide open mid range passing attacks built around 15 to 30 yard passing attacks & shitloads of it. The QB's that can play in that up tempo passing attack with the best accuracy & efficiency will rule the day in the current offensive rule making era.
