GOON WATCH: John Scott To The Hawks
Scott is here to take over Sopels spot. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays 10-13 minutes a night and is on the PK.
I'll be surprised if he averages 8 minutes of ice time. Look at his numbers last year. Unless he's going to improve playing with the Hawks.

Sopel was hands down one of the best D Pkers in the league. No WAY does Scott replace that. Probably, no, the best part of Sopels game hands down.
Yea. IF he wasn't a healthy scratch.

I didn't say I hated the Signing. Just excuse me if I don't quite jump for joy quite yet.

At some point we need to replace about 74 goals here
.
Assuming full health, Hossa should get you 15 more. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kane and Toews up their goal total a little. I'm sure Beach and Bickell will do ok.

Yeah, Scott's not going to help in that department, but I'm sure we'll get close to the same goal total.

Yep both Buff and Versteeg had 20 each (Buff 17) which a few are going to be replaced by Kane/Toews/Hossa. And as Phranck says Beach should add 10-15 (hopefully) and Lalonde will add a couple. Not to mention even SCOTT could score maybe 1!

EDIT: Don't forget Bolland will be healthy all year!

Don't like it. Goons are useless. I like fights that are guys actually pissed at each other, not some bullshit set up "you wanna go" at the face-off dot between to guys who can barely skate. Give me a draft pick or someone with a lick of skill over this goon.

Still wonder why we need one? When Toews got hit, it was done he had a concussion, no goon could have stopped that. When Campbell went down same thing, I'd rather have a team with excess to more talent than some one who's gonna maybe hit the dude who hurt our player in the face once or twice, we have plenty of guys who can do that. Goons should be dead IMO.

Last Cup Winners.

Blackhawks-None

Penguins-None

Red Wings- None

Ducks-Parros, played 5 games in their win....

Hurricanes-None

I see the trend, and to me paying money for pretty much nothing is a waste. Guess thats just me.

I don't think Lalonde is going to make this team. Sorry I see Scott being a healthy scratch a LOT. He'll dress with those teams that have a bigger line up. I hope I'm wrong and he's huge, just doesn't get me to excited.

And we will need scoring from the 3r and 4th lines. Not just the top two.

Oh and as for Bolland, now you need to find a Ladd type player to skate with him. Bolland-Ladd was a deadly combination checking wise. Ask the Sedins, Thornton, Carter and Richards.

That move hurt the Hawks the most IMO. Wanted Ladd to stay!!!!

Uhhhh Regular Season and playoffs are different dude...

You have to protect your star players in the regular season for them to shine in the Playoffs. Goons are an integral part of the regular season as well as obsolete in the playoffs.

I can remember twice where a goon would have come in Handy this year. No goon would have stopped Wiz from making the dumb decision. He wasn't thinking about the consequences. Even if there were one with Scott on the ice.

I tend to agree with PSR. We won the Cup without one. Even Eager knew how to skate.

We'll see how much he's a healthy scratch. I'd love to eat crow. It tastes good.

I can see Lalonde being held back, Dmen usually take longer to become NHL ready.

Fine with me as long as he's out there in games against teams that we know like to play like hacks (Blues).

Ugh sooooo true... losing Ladd blows and as I understand it, it was unnecessary as well as far as the cap goes.

I don't see Scott as just a goon one skates. You have to remember something. Scott played NCAA college hockey. Fighting isn't allowed and if you do fight you get a game suspension. Seems like he didn't miss too many games in his college career if you check his stats. Plus Michigan Tech isn't a bullshit NCAA hockey program. He had to have been able to play some defense or they wouldn't have given him a scholarship.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bickell could play a role like Ladd.

It looks like he was lining up at wing for a few of those fights...

ok

I just don't see college correlating to the NHL. I look at the NHL stats and I'm not impressed.

No biggie we'll see. Like said "when he's in the line up" they'll be no funny business, on most nights.

Not a chance. Completely different skill set and I've watched Bickell since he arrived. Might be all we can afford though. hehe

He's played about a season in the NHL. He's not going to be a star. I would put him up to Walker.

I said earlier in this thread that he played wing on the 4th line in Minnesota.

Absolutely, I've found 10 fight videos and all of them end with Scott murdering his unfortunate opponent!
