Eager was our "goon" he couldn't be that "goon" after his latest concussion installment. Then again why did Eager make 2x as much as Scott? Because he could skate and was a decent shooter.

So we have a stripped down Eager with no offensive talent but no one is going to **** with for half the price... seems pretty fair to me.[/quote]

Eager was no goon, first round draft pick, hit very well, scored goals, could skate VERY WELL, got back, he was no goon.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. Probably doesn't bleed as well as Koci either.

Very good TIM!

You can name 2/3rds of the NHL that have no goons. It's a dying fad man. Dying.

To get to the playoffs you must play 82 games... in 08-09 Ott took a run at Kane and put him out with a high ankle sprain... what if it was worse? What if it permanently did damage?

Who answered to Ott, nobody?

What's to say some goon on Vancouver/St Louis/Philadelphia wouldn't make a dangerous run at Kane/Toews/Sharp etc if there was no one to answer?

The goal of the 82 game season is to get into the playoffs as healthy as possible.... and if it were Ott in late March putting Kane out for 6-8 weeks with a dirty hit... I'm sure we'd have people calling for his head... With Scott that's a less desirable choice.

Absolutely Special person but it will make the Rangers more fun to watch lose for me. There are still some Rangers fans that think this signing was good when Colton Orr was paid half that amount and did more.

Goons become fan favorites. Scott probably sits most nights but nice to have against goon squads like St Louis.

Any number of players could answer to the Pussy Ott. Brouwer, Burrish, Eager, Seabrook, Buff..... Didn't need to be a goon.

Your justification is for the "old" NHL.

what goon on the Canucks? Hordichuck?? What one on Philly? You have the Hack on St. Louis Janssen, but is he really a goon? Or just a hack?

Scott has to be dressed to be feared.

Thats about the only team I see him being dressed for? Maybe the teams with size where we might get banged around. I'm interested to see if he can ADD in any other area other than NHLers being 'scared of him", which I think is bullshit to begin with. None of those guys that would take the "cheap shot" would be scared of reprisal in the first place.

Maybe 15 years ago.

Ron, I completely agree. My point is he'll be good to be used when we play hack jobs like St Louis/Vancouver (Rypien)/Philly (Carcillo/Laperierre)... not saying he's going to play every night like Eager. But for 500K it's not so bad to have that insurance policy that will knockout Janssen and Jackman or any other guy who thinks they want to make a name for themselves running our skilled guys.

We played a 7 game series against both those teams you mentioned without a goon.

You can be excited for both of us.

Now fucking sign Niemi and Hjarlmarsson and find me two NHL WINGS, one for the 3rd and 4th lines!

Only to the uneducated fans. Having watched more than my fair share of minor league hockey, I can attest to the stupidity level of most so-called hockey fans in this area. All they want are fights...ridiculous.

The chances of the Hawks repeating in the cap era are pretty slim to none.

Who the **** didnt think that Versteeg, Byfuglien and Ladd we're NOT going to get moved? (some thought Sharp may be in that group)

The Hawks will still be very good next year and who knows, if some of these young kids step up, this team may challenge again. I guarantee there are quite a few times that arent going to want to play the Hawks come playoff time.

What Stan has done, has set them up to have a legit cup shot in 2-3 years with all these young prospects/picks he's bringing in. Scott is a cheap fill in.....and I'll enjoy seeing him whip some ass.

Hell, blame Toews for winning the fucking Conn Smythe while winning the Cup ...that 1.3mil couldve kept Ladd. Fucking Toews.

A guy making the league minimum who more or less is a Walker type player and it's a bullshit signing?

I'm sorry you guys wanted Kovalchuk on the team but for fucksake we can't get those type of guys.

PSR there is no way Ladd was going to take 500k or 750K a year. Come on!

Also who said he was a one dimensional, solid goon? Did SB not say if you want to play for the Hawks you have to be able to skate a regular shift? How many people here have seen him play more then a game or two? It seems like since we lost Eager, Burish and Fraser who brought some "toughness" on the 4th line are gone, so why not sign a guy to the league minimum who can play that tough guy role. If he gets scratched for 82 games in the season it's 500K against the cap, which can be sent to the AHL and never dealt with again.

It's not a bullshit signing. It's a "i'm not jumping for joy who the **** cares" signing.

All moves today other than this one were a necessity. I agree with picks and prospects and still think this team will have a chance at repeating.

This signing, BFD. Is it a waste of 500k we really don't have, we'll see.

I'm not really pointing at you.

It's been something that has been adding up since the off season started. Yes Steeg, Buff, Ladd, Burish and Eager were all somewhat liked but we CAN'T KEEP THEM!!! I sent Tony my article for the main page but he hasn't been around to publish it. I basically explain what going on from my eyes and I know from others.

Shit if it is, we can send him to the AHL and won't have to every worry about him again. Not a huge loss.

If we send Huet to Rockford, we would be at 8 million give or take 100K as of right now.

That's with 13 players counted towards the cap.

about 4 of that 8 million is going to Niemi and Hammer. The other 4 million can get you atleast 3 more 3rd-4th line players.

Like I said hopefully it's a two way contract.

as for the "shit if it is". It's most definitely "I'm not jumping for joy who the **** care's signing". Most definitely.

I'll gladly eat my crow if he plays oh, 45 games this year. If not it's a waste of 500k unless he goes to the minors and makes 65k once he gets there.
