The Pistons had two less wins then we did last year. Somehow, between loosing our leading scorer and them gaining a leading scorer and a decent big, they will make up those two games. To assume otherwise, is illogical.

There were people convinced we couldn't possibly trade away our leading scorers Jalen Rose, Jamal Crawford and (especially) Eddy Curry too.

Ben is better than that lot, but I'm confident we'll manage to cope like we always have.
We certainly can cope and recover over time with more lottery picks and cap space like we did last time. And I could certainly feel better about this if we are rebuilding and dump Deng and Kirk but we won't do that. I could take one step back to take two steps forward but we aren't doing that. Dump Kirk and Deng and then suck for a lotto pick and I can at least see a plan.

Disagree with you about Charles V. He is not as good as Rasheed. I just think the Bulls have a better team, but time will tell.

Charlie plays the game with no passion, he will take that money and run to the injured list.

I think you have to wait to see how the rest of this off-season (and probably 2010) before you can say there is no plan. If we dump Deng and Kirk we're basically giving up on 2010 because we wouldn't have enough pieces to be an attractive destination for the big free agents.

I'd rather have Tyrus on my team than Charlie V. There I said it and I hate Tyrus.

Oh the lies! The lies!

Marbury will earn $21 million in the final season of his contract this year, which makes trading him difficult. Over the summer, Walsh talked to the Chicago Bulls regarding a sign-and-trade for free agent Ben Gordon, but Chicago had little interest in Marbury.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...stephon_marbury_and_knicks_head_for_fast.html

I'd suspect that both Miami and New York were offering Gordon something in the $10-12 million a year range.

It's a big leap from that report to 10-12 mil a year . . . from both teams.

It's really not.

Stephon Marbury was making $21 million.

Nocioni was making $8 million.

So if it was Gordon and Nocioni going to New York, then Gordon would have had to be signing a minimum of a $66.66 million over 6 years just to balance salaries to have a trade that satisfies the CBA.

While you could have a much smaller contract for Gordon if it was Hughes going with him, you can't have Gordon on a really small contract while the Bulls also stay under the luxury tax. The Bulls probably would have wanted a trade where the salaries were roughly even, so under this pretense, to balance salaries, Gordon would have had to sign at least a $62 million over 6 year deal.

Regardless of disagreeing about sheed, we can agree that a 35 yr old sheed is declining big time and wouldn't be around for a while regardless. Sheed is a better defender and slightly better rebounder but offensively he refused to play in the post anymore and did little more than launch jumpers. I think Charlie V can easily fill the offensive void that is left and do it more efficiently. I mean last year, half of sheeds shots were 3's, you don't want that from your center. I like Sheed, but he needs to play on a contender or retire.

How is that so? That is exactly what NY and NJ are doing and they are in it. Rose, JJ, Salmons and Noah are a better core than the junk NY and NJ have. Why wouldn't we be attractive?

Charlie V has only missed signifigant time in one of his four years. I don't know where you are getting this from and he played minutes under skilies, someone who would have benched him if he had no passion.

Hot garbage or not, he was significantly better than any of our bigs last year. Only after the trade did they even start playing decently. We would have beat Boston if we had him instead of TT.

a full season of John and a healthy yr from Kirk and Luol and we will be fine.

Yea we will be just great. Say that in February when Deng has been out for a month after avg 14 pts on 35% shooting. Salmons is a nice 2 guard but he is not a guy you can go to when it counts. How many game winners did Salmons and Kirk hit combined last year? ....Answer....ZERO! This move is devestating to us and I will be laughing at your idiotic ass when we finish the season with 35 wins! This is a big old preemptive I TOLD YOU SO!!

Mark, I think you're too pessimistic when you say that Deng will only shoot 35%. Deng will average 16 points on 47 FG%, but a mediocre TS%.

I think you're too optimistic on the win total. I think 32 wins is about right.

Charlie last year 16/6 versus Noah's 7/7 on 2 less mpg. Noah may be better than Charlie V next yr or down the road but last year Charlie V was better and till Noah commits himself to coming into camp in shape, he will be nothing more.

We barely won 41 with BG, how do you plan to improve without him?
