I'm very confused by a 2nd round WR people are calling a steal at #39 after we already have a 1st round #24th on a recent contract and a 1st round 9th on a rookie contract. And then a #10 TE plus a #43 TE.
All while being told that we're going to run 2 WR and 2 TE sets when we weren't able to get the ball to 3 WRs and 2 TEs.

I guess we're set for depth as far as the weapons go. If we're ever able to get the ball to them they might get banged up.
Maybe BJ looked at Scott and laughed at Poles saying you don't get a WR in the 4th and then keep him because your WR in the 3rd sucked ass.
Maybe having all this talent wrapped up in to offensive weapons is how real teams do it.
Is this even legal? Too much offensive talent on the field, game forfeited.
It's all just very confusing.

Throw in the OT and DT and I guess it's OK but I was always told it takes top 10 talent to be dline and figured it would take the same amount of talent to play against them. Maybe 2nd round trench talent is OK.

RT, yes. Not really a position of need. DT, he may be alright but they have plenty of 3T already. He also not really much as a pass rusher, which imo is the biggest need. Burden is a bit of a headcase, but really they have too many mouths to feed in the passing game and completely neglected EDGE and S. This team has 3 real EDGE players who combined for 8.5 sacks last year. Not sure how they've improved the most important thing that defenses do, getting after the passer.

IMO, any safety that's drafted in the top 2 or 3 rounds should be ready to play immediately. I don't mind them kicking the can down the road at S until next year, given that they still have 2 really good ones on the roster. Although, it will certainly be a huge priority next year.

One really good one who missed three months because of his fourth concussion and another who is 33.

What could go wrong?

I'm hoping they can get a depth guy here in the later rounds, but Brisker is certainly a huge concern if he gets injured again. Not worried at all about Byard, he's still solid and been durable in his career

I love the Turner pick....not sure about the TE and WR picks. Again I feel like we neglected the lines.
Now, Caleb and Poles have 0 freakin excuses. If he looks like crap this year. If the both lines struggle....I'd seriously consider looking for a new QB and or GM

I'm a big offense first proponent but admit that I am confused about what they're doing through nearly 3 rounds.

That was 3 rounds. The trade down to get another 2nd included the 3rd. We got hosed to the tune of 21 points but it doesn't seem like a horrible deal even though 21 is pretty large.

I guess doing all that makes what I see as a luxury pick at #10 excused. 2nd round oline and dline seems to tick all the boxes and leaves enough for a RB (Buf's 109) if needed.
I'm guessing being a Bears fan and having 2 high TEs and 3 very high for us WRs makes the Burden pick instead of DE confusing. Maybe this is what good teams do.

WR, OT, DT/DE is a disaster?

Hell yes this is a disaster.
Why in the world are we drafting wr when we just drafted a te at 1?

We definetly could of had better players if we stood pat instead of trading down.

This draft blows.

I hope to eat crow on this but it feels like a bad draft to me. I’m just some **** on the internet but this looks like a GM that over-deferred to his first time HC. I trust BJ to build an O but this is his first time being responsible for building all 3 phases.

I believe they drafted turner to be a Dayo style elephant DE instead of a 3rd string 3T - which he played a lot more of before A&M brought in Scourton. I hate the pick if he’s brought in to just be a DT but I think he’ll be DE3 which makes me like the pick a ton more.

I’m going to become these players biggest fans going forward but in terms of grading the process this is a C- draft so far. Hoping like hell Bears prove me wrong.

Edit: One thing that does give me warm fuzzies is it looks like the Bears are building the shootout team I was hoping ‘24 would be. There’s perhaps more opportunity/will to make a splash trade for a stud DE to cap the D after your O has shown it can put up 28+ ppg which is the path I’m hoping the Bears find themselves on.

Good lord! Burden would have been a top 10 pick if he came out after 2023. He couldn’t throw the ball to himself in 2024.

Anyone bitching about him should log off and quit posting.

Jeremiah says the BC kid is capable of starting day one in the NFL.

Turner played edge two years and inside last year. Allen is going to be moving him around.

I have no idea if they all work out but some of the bitching is fucking hilarious.

The Bears finally look like they’re going to be able play real NFL offense with multiple ways to attack defenses but somehow it is perceived as a negative.

I think Dennis Allen will squeeze more out of what’s there. Collapsing the pocket inside will help those guys, that has been the beat biggest problem since hicks.

As the sayings go, you can never have too many weapons and you can never have too many pass rushers. On paper they checked one of those boxes and the other is still a work in progress.

Burden—home run. Didn't NEED him but wow did our WR room get better.
Trapilo—6th ranked OT, immediate competition at LT, big dude, doesn't commit fouls, protects well, love it.
Turner—6th ranked DT, high motor, big dude, plays all of the DL positions, flexibility, love it.

Adding these three (the trade down a VERY nice move) to Loveland? We are on FIRE.
