One thing I'll say is that I would take a Hakeem Olajuwon or a Shaquille O'Neal in their primes over Kobe Bryant or LeBron James in either of their's.

And Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan in their prime are way, way better than Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire, Dirk Nowitzki, or Pau Gasol. And they are definitely better than Dwight Howard, too.

Of course...they are centers! That's like QBs in football. Kobe Bryant is top 10, arguably top 5 all time though...and Lebron is on his way...

You can't just use the "of course, they are centers" card because there are players like Jordan and Magic who are heads and shoulders above basically any big man in terms of value and what they bring all-around.

I don't think it's that hard to think of players who are arguably better than Bryant and James either:

Jordan, Magic, Kareem, Wilt, Russell, Hakeem, Shaq, Karl Malone, Moses Malone, Bird... that's 10 guys right there who you can get away with saying are better than either Kobe or LeBron.

Like Hou said, its not fair to compare those four. 2 completely different positions.
Can you explain to us why you hate Kobe so much?

Hell no to Malone.
I'd take Kobe and Lebron over Malone 7 days a week.

best players I saw

1. Jordan
2. Hakeem
3. Kobe
4. Lebron
5. Shaq
6. Duncan
7. Wade
8. Garnett
9. Malone
10. Robinson/Barkley
also Nowitzki, Miller...and on and on and on

That means in my lifetime I saw what I believe are the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best shooting guards one of the being the greatest ever, most talented player physically in NBA history, most dominant player in NBA history, arguably 5 of the top 8 PFs. Best all around big man in NBA history and a bunch of HOFers. In only 25 years of watching. All those players and watching my top 2 favorite teams win 8 titles in one decade......a charmed NBA life...

You have Wade over West?

Disagree a lot.

I do love Hakeem Olajuwon though. My favorite center ever. Dominant on bothends of the floor and so fundamentally sound it was sickening. Even more fundamentally sound than Duncan. Scary good.

Malone was nearly as dominant of a scorer as Kobe Bryant was. And we are talking about a guy who averaged 4-5 assists as a PF while Bryant averaged 6-7 at best as a SG. I'll take Malone's defense well ahead of Kobe's as well.

Sorry but from watching Malone play I saw his dick shrink up too much in crucial situations/series for me to ever take him.

Kobe is the second best SG of all time IMO and I'll take him over Malone any day having watched both play the game.

Well, he said it was out of the players that he saw.

Not really the way the post reads.

Of course MJ, Kobe, and Wade are the 1st, 2nd and 2rd best SG's he ever saw play...they are the only SG's he lists. It would be heavily redundant to state that after listing them IMO. The way the list reads to me is he lsioted 3 SG's and said he believes them to be the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best SG's ever.

I remember Game 5 of the 1998 Finals all too well when he scored 38 points. And he kept them in the game in Game 6. I know everybody will remember the two free throws he missed in Game 1 in 1997, but how many good games has Kobe Bryant even had in the Finals? I think Malone actually might have had more of them.

By the time Utah made it to the Finals those two seasons, Stockton was way past his prime. I'm personally taking Malone over Kobe Bryant in a slight edge.

I disagree...they are not head and shoulders above Kareem or Wilt...not at all...

If you think Bird, Malone and Russell are better than Kobe, you....are entitled to your opinion.

But you should stop the hate on Kobe man...enough is enough. After you said the "I would take 2001 Jordan over today's Kobe" stuff, I knew you were consumed by hate. NOBODY who watched Kobe and Malone play would take Malone...unless you already have Jordan on your squad...and I wouldn't say it then personally. And Bird is not a better player at all...I watched Bird and I watched Kobe. He was a more skilled player than everyone on that list with the exception of Jordan. So you can say Kobe isn't as good as some of those guys...but you sure as hell wouldn't get away with it.
