I think once you start adding shit like bacon or potatoes you cant classify the sammich as grilled cheese at that point because adding anything but cheese just makes it a hot sammich not a grilled cheese

See clone.... hbk is even more :hitler: about grilled cheese then I am.... I allowed for 1 topping besides cheese.

I guess I'll throw in my recipe, hope this doesn't get reported.

I take homemade white bread, "butter" the bread with mayo for dat tang. I usually stick with grated Irish cheddar, anything from kerrygold is good by me, the sharper the better. Crumbled bacon, always. If i'm feeling frisky I will smear some cream cheese on the inside too, and when I do, throw in some chopped chives. I believe this still qualifies as a grilled cheese but feel free to dislike me if you have a problem with this.

Can someone explain to me the mayo business on grilled cheese? I ain't hating, I just wanna know what it adds for those of you who like it. HHM, you mentioned "dat tang" can you elaborate on this?

it's tangy, it's also ready to spread so it's also convenient.

Another thing I did the other day which may qualify as grilled cheese - I had some leftover homemade spinach and artichoke dip. I put that straight up on some bread and grilled it. Used butter for that one though.

I think it may have to have cheese to be a grilled cheese. Idk though, you're the foodie

Same with pancakes. Too easy to get the pan too hot.

fair enough

How's it affect the fry? If at all.

Kike if you friend a grilled cheese? The whole thing would destroy the oil.

Oh, and I know you asked about the mayo. Im from the South. There i only one mayo. That is blue plate. If you havent had it, try it. No other mayo in the world can compare. If you are looking to flavor you mayo with herbs or such, then blue plate isnt whatyou should buy. Its just way to good on its own. We dress everyhting down here and if I had to eat Helmans, I wouldnt eat mayo.
