Been considering picking up an electric guitar for a while now (just an acoustic player right now). Don't really have the money to shell out for a really nice one though at the moment. Do you guys have an good sorta mid-tier guitar that you'd recommend? I play mostly rock style stuff if that helps.

Epiphone...Theyre a Gibson brand but made in Korea..Very nice guitars..I'd give the "Sheraton" a try, it's a 335 style guitar ..I have one here I got in 84..Plays like butter, and is very versatile!!

Yeah others have recommended Epiphone as well. Being related to Gibson probably means good things. That guitar looks pretty nice...I've been digging the semi-hollows that I've seen and would likely lean towards that style if I had the choice.

I know other brands like Fender and PRS have similar things like Epiphone is to Gibson. Would you recommend any of those? How would they compare to an Epiphone to you?

I have a late 80's/early 90's Fender Stat (when they were American made) and a Fender Jazz bass. Also an early 80's Fender Bullet.

PRS is expensive..Fenders are nice, but the'yre a lot less versatile that a semi solid guitar is..Fenders have that unique, and thats it...I have 2, and they're great for what they are...If I was going to get started however(like you are), I would start with a semi solid. But many people love their Strats too....Your choice

BearsBud is that pink guitar really yours?

I sold it, but it's not pink...Maybe it appears that way to those who haven't seen it in person...Its more of a metallic kinda Lavender...It was a color used in 1962 on GM cars...Metallic Burgundy Mist..I remember my neighbor had a 62 Olds Starfire convertible that color...I always liked it..The chicks went wild for it..Oldsmobile called it Sunset Mist, but Fender copied it..Cadillac had the same color as well, called it "light Rose"

Here is a Cad in that color

I bought the guitar as an investment piece..I never played out with it..I actually traded it for a 335, that I play a lot..

It's a sick rig. Just didn't take you for a pink type of guy.
