Happy Holidays vs Merry Christmas

The couple shouldn't have responded rudely even if they Happy Holidays was said to them rudely. It's quite alright to use any of it.
That said I know of folks that will respond, "Which one" to "Happy Holiday" which I find non-confrontational and clever.

I think that's why it's got me so pissed off. She was just a nice little teenage kid who said it in a very heartfelt manner. She didn't deserve to get snapped at by these model
Christian citizens.

Getting shitty with someone because they didn't say "Merry Christmas" is something that someone who is pretentious and pious enough to think that they are holier than thou would do.

I haven't worked retail in over a decade but I just don't remember this being a big deal back then. What happened in the last 10+ years?

They even did away with Christmas/Halloween/Valentine/ect... parties at schools as well. My youngest daughter didn't get a single classroom party even though my two older ones did. They even allowed parents to come to the classroom parties back then.

Wasn't happy holidays made popular to lessen the overly long merry Christmas and a happy new year anyway or any holiday year round?

I hear ya. The fact is that many non-believers don;'t realize is that believers make mistakes too and are no different than others when it comes to that.

Oh I realize they make mistakes. It's the attitude that goes with the mistake that I take issue with. I know plenty of believers that are humble and acknowledge that they aren't perfect or 100% Christlike. The believers that I have a problem with are the holier than thou type who can do whatever they want while judging everyone else from their glass houses.

I am 24, will be 25 in February and I don't even remember it being a big issue.

I had times in grade school where people brought treats in for their birthdays or for projects and it was no big deal.

Same here. I don't recall any of those problems but maybe that's because I attended school in small towns.
