How about a different rink? That rink sucks anyway.

I'm real friendly with the guy who runs Skokie, I can ask him if he has any weekend ice available. They usually have some here and there. Plus, the ice is about 500x better than Arctic. Not to mention much closer to my home :D
The ice at Arctic is actually quite good once the weather cools down. As good as Skokie right now I'd say. Regardless, I agree that Arctic sucks.

Re: HASB-CHICAGO ISSUE

I talked to the guy who runs Skokie today and he said we might be able to get the 27th. Right now they have it blocked out for a figure skating competition, but he said as of now there weren't enough people registered to hold the competition. He said that if there still isn't enough people registered by Nov 1 we can have it.

The problem is, icetime in November is hard to get. ESPECIALLY weekend icetime. All the teams have reserved their ice for the fall/winter seasons, all the men's league schedules are done, etc. It is going to be next to impossible to pickup a weekend ice slot during the fall season.
Made even more difficult by the Nike/Bauer Tournament From Nov 4-7. They eat up EVERY sheet available at just about every rink in the area. Forces teams to sit out for four days.

Its getting close to late October. Shouldn't we be making a more concerted effort to round out the squads and solidify the rosters?

Sounds like you're in the process of getting hosed, Klemmer. Cathy was worried something like that would happen when she left there. Keep us posted on what's up.

Sounds like a thorough hosing Klemmer. Cathy was worried something like that would happen when she left there. Don't know what we can do to help, but if there's anything, let us know.

This is not good. This game needs to happen as soon as possible. I'm getting younger but not fast enough.

Guys,

It is with sadness that I have to announce that I am going to have to postpone the Chicago game until sometime in the spring. I just haven't been able to find ice at a fair price and time that will fit into my schedule.

I am going to be looking into ice times in mid to late March.....

I've learned from this experience....

thanks for your patience...

Sorry to hear that Klem. They should give you a reduced price on ice time in the spring, if you decide to even play their again.

The Hoffman Estate rink has ice available for us from 11:00 AM to 2:50 PM on Sunday January 9, 2011. The cost would be $100 per hour. They told me they would gave us a break on cost as it is benefit. I have no idea if that's a good deal. I've asked what they would need for a deposit. The next time they would have something available would be some time in March. The 'Hawks have a game that evening.

I told them at this time I can't speak for the group; I was just shopping around for ice.

Hoffman Estates is the 'official' practice rink for the Wolves and visiting AHL teams for what that's worth.

Klemmer, you can contact me using greg002 "at" comcast, net if you need to..

Yep and Hoffman Estates is a nice rink. Ice is decent - good sized seating area. I play some men's league games at this place. Id be in for January if we decided to jump on it.
