Hope he enjoys the music I sent you, Lauren!

I'm surprised this thread hasn't been pinned yet. I think it's appropriate.

Thinking of you a lot my friend!

Lauren sent this article in and it was published. She posted it on FB so I assume it would be ok to repost it here.

To the Tbird family Michelle and I love you all very much and are with you for what ever this battle brings.

Hero Story : My Dad

My dad started feeling ill in the spring of 2009. He finally saw a doctor in early summer and was diagnosed with acid reflux. A few more days went by and he didn't feel any better in fact he probably felt worse. He went to the emergency room and after some tests and scopes they found a mass which was blocking the acid from leaving his stomach. It all happened really fast after that. The next thing I knew he was being taken to Chicago Rush Hospital to get a whipple procedure done because the mass was pancreatic cancer. It was pretty surreal to think that my dad had been diagnosed with cancer. But his surgery was very successful and he came home. After he was on the mend from the surgery they started up the chemo and then the radiation. He stayed strong though the whole thing and even went to work during the chemo. He started to feel better and things were looking good in 2010. Here we are in May of 2011 and the cancer is back. This time it is attacking his liver. There is another mass blockinga bile duct which has given him elevated Billirubin levels and made him quite jaundiced. He has been in and out of the hospital quite a few times in the past couple of months. They want to start a more intense chemo regimen but they doctors have been putting off the start of the chemo because they want to see his Billirubin level decrease to 4. Now they have decided that it probably won't lower until they start to kill some of these cancer cells. He started his first chemo treatment today, May 25, 2011. These past few months have been the most stressful. Seeing him suffer with pain and the weight loss and now having to go through the chemo all over again. It is sometimes very hard to stay positive but somehow as a family we are getting through this. We have our good days and we have our bad days but we have a very strong support system in our friends and family and it is really great having so many people that love and care about us. This fight isn't over, but I think we can win.

Thanks for posting that over here RK, I was just thinking that I hadn't really updated anyone in a while. This story was posted on www.knowitfightitendit.org. That website is full of ways you can help out in the fight against pancreatic cancer and it has a bunch of other hero stories on there as well.

Thank you guys again for your continued support, we are so very lucky to have so many people who care for us.

It was posted on the side thread, but it also needs to go here.

Dale Tallon contacted T-bird. Not sure what was said, but the fact that some one out there set all of that up is amazing.
