My condolences to his family and friends. I've not had the chance to meet anyone on this board in person but from what I could tell Tbird was about as stand-up a guy as you could be. RIP- Tbird.

To Amy and Lauren, I am so sorry for your loss.

Let it be known that Tom "Tbird" was a true Hawk fan who, even when crossing people...always was a friend and fan to everyone.

I am very greatful for getting to know Tom and his family. Thanks for touching my life and making my pictures that much better.

RIP T-Bird! I believe I met you once. Possibly the first Convention if you were there. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family. You will be missed by many! I hate cancer more than I hate the Canucks. And that is really saying something!

Jako & Mego were keeping be updated and were the bearers of the news.

At first I thought, "At least Tbird got to see the Hawks win the Cup" but they were then quickly replaced with "At least Tbird got to watch his childern grow up and had all those years with his wife" because, really, that's what's most important.

I don't want to hi-jack this thread... but if any of you are interested, a group of us will be at Fox and Hound in Schaumburg tonight around 6:30-ish to have a few beers in Tbird's memory. It's a little bit of a special place, because it's where a few of us saw the Hawks win the cup.

My condolences to the family as well. I never got to meet you all, but I know I met T-Bird once, passing him by and talking to him while walking around the UC if I recall. It really did feel like meeting someone special.

Even on the boards, he was a great guy to message with, and his "love" for some Russian hockey players was definitely no secret. I'll never forget that.

He was one of the first people I got to know about when I first moved here and I'm definitely glad I got to meet him.

I know I don't know him as much as the rest of you do, but I still feel the pain as much as the rest of you. My prayers go out to everyone here also.

RIP T-Bird

I believe this was the first time I drank with Tom. It was the Friday night of the first Blackhawks Convention.

The group got together at some bar (Demon or Gettingthere recommendation?) where the liquor flowed. I had a shot of something with Tom, some type of whiskey, and remember him picking the craziest beer names and drinking them, funny shit. He said some where awful including the one with something to do with bowling on the label.

To you Tom, a salute for the man that you were. For having touched our lives, for being a Blackhawks fan and for the no bullshit kind of guy that always made conversations with opinions being shared interesting.

To his family and close friends I think I can say that he will be missed here. Not only today, not only at the beginning of next Blackhawks season but forever.

The thing with cancer too is that it is such a silent killer. It sneaks up on you. If you read the backstory here you will see Tbird went in for something thought to be routine in 2009 - acid reflux. Then it turned out to be so much more. And pancreatic too - which has one of the worst survivor rates. Shows how delicate life can be.

Wow... wasn't expecting to read this today... **** CANCER, **** your in your fucking cancerous fucking face you ******.... My heart goes out to all family and friends. Truly a sad day for everyone close and all blackhawks fans that shared his same passion. I'll never forget the time when I saw him in the brew pub at the stadium, can't remember the name right now, and I didn't so much as see him as his jersey. I said holy shit that's Tbird, and before I realized I had said it outloud he started turning around and since we had not formally met I kind of turned around like... who said that? He just laughed and went on his way. My brush with greatness indeed.

RIP T-bird.

Those are great fucking pictures.

through all the tears, they are tears of celebration and sadness at the same time.

Well said, Chris.

I posted on FB, at some point I'll be able to laugh about the good times we had with him, like with the chicken in the Cup at his house a year ago this weekend, but just not right now. Most of us knew him from the O's, he and Amy sat in the row in front of us for 2 years and we had more than a few good times with them. Some people come and go out of your life without making an impression. Not Tom.

A special friend. He will be missed.

I finally stopped crying and there you go and make me run like a river again Larry.

This group of folk here are very special. Tom is an example of that. While he may no longer be with us in body, he will ALWAYS be with us in memory.

This is the time you look back and remember all the goofy, funny, and often strange ass shit we all did together.

The fucking CHICKEN is at the TOP of that LIST!!!!

"you didn't let them put that in the Cup did you?" "yea, who was going to stop them, you?" "Ron, there is a dead chicken in your Stanley Cup?" "shut up, they did not". "they did"......

Fucking BEATOFFS!!!! HAHAHA
