Yeah, **** salary.
One day, the boss bought everyone hot dogs for lunch...They were like 2 for 2 dollars..lol...Wouldn't ya know it...When he fired me that was the first thing he brought up.." I bet no other boss bought you hot dogs". I just SMH and walked out..
Worst day of my life. July 2013, on my birthday.
Before I began running a service department at my current Volkswagen dealership, I worked for a dealership running the internet sales department. It was customary for my to facilitate long-distance deals by doing all the finance paperwork, trade appraisals, credit applications, etc. I was working with an individual in Texas who was buying an F-450 we had on the lot. The purchase was for his business, and he was trying to meet a specific tax deadline in order to have the interest on the vehicle waived. I prepared all the paperwork and brought it to the dealership owner, as it's customary for him to FedEx everything to customers. Keeping it brief -- the owner mixed up some of the paperwork and sent to the wrong person. The customer missed his deadline and rightfully wanted the dealership to reimburse him for the discrepancy in taxes.
I had the next day off and came in July 2nd, my birthday. I couldn't even get to my desk, he called me into his office with our general manager, stated "my poor planning"... whatever that means, caused him to mix up the paperwork and I was at fault. He tried forcing me to reimburse the customer, then changed his mind and fired me.
I'm not one to hold grudges, but I've seen their financial statements get floated around between dealer principals and that specific dealership group hasn't had a green month in almost 9 months.
I didnt know you worked for a car dealership
I bought my wifes jeep over the phone..Best transaction I ever made
I researched the Jeep on line, called the guy and we made a deal right on the phone..I told him I had X amt of money to spend and he agreed. I told him to have everything ready for me when I arrived..It was a 4 hour drive. We walked in the place and he had every document filled out on his desk..We walked in his office, signed like 10 forms, handed him the check, and he handed us the keys..I was out of that place in 15 minutes. The car was washed and clean etc... Next time, Im gonna try the same tactic..Ive waited hours in car dealerships to finally get out the door, but this one was a pleasure
Yup, I've been in the car business for about five years, the last year and a half running service at a Volkswagen dealership. Most customers enjoy doing their purchases online. It's way easier to streamline everything. Customers have all the information at their disposal and make comparisons without having to visit a half dozen dealerships. Generally, most dealerships will advertise their best price online as a way to drive traffic to the website and dealership, so haggling is eliminated. At that point, it's just about the customer finding the "right car" and the right dealership that makes them comfortable with the purchasing process.
