I have contemplated that myself but I actually enjoy my job there is a feeling of accomplishment when I do my part of building someone's home and they are happy with it. or I see a building I worked on being used by people in my community I dunno what it is but it makes me happy
Gotta be at the gym in a bit; but I've always wanted to work construction. When I was a kid, I used to say I wanted to be a construction worker. Idkwhy. Inwork weird hours at a fitness club; but I've debated about saying screw the cube job office work im destined to be in(less I work with sports which is my passion), and say go in with construction. My buddy can get me full benefits full scale wage for a Union laborer.. But idk.

Most people I know hate construction or blue collar jobs. Then again they seem happier than the white collar guys I meet. Who just seem so miserable and depressed. Idk. I had a panic attack at a cube office job few years back. I felt like I was in office space. Ha. Seriously..

White collar work isn't for the bros. The bros build shit, whistle at ladies as they pass, and drink like frat bros.

IMO, blue collar guys know what to expect out of life..There isnt a huge ceiling for them..Maybe foreman etc..If a BC guy wants extra money, he will usually take another job on the weekends to make it. Remodeling jobs etc (cash)....There is a huge ceiling in WC work, and a lot of competition for those spots. Hence the tension and unhappiness when they feel theyre not moving up fast enough.

In the end, it's all what you want to do with your life. If working with your hands makes ya happy, go for it..If you want to join the rat race in WC work, go for that as well..

Both have their rewards
