I was fired once in my early 20's. Still pissed about it like 10 years later.

Worked harder and more hours than anyone else for 3 years. I was literally working like ~50 hours over a 6-7 day work week and taking 12+ hours of undergrad for the last 2 years. Got called into the office and was told someone had seen me smoking pot outside the building like 2 weeks prior and that I was fired. I argued and offered to pay for my own drug test. Total scumbags. I was awarded unemployment after they did everything they could to prevent it. I got some satisfaction listening to the judge on a 3-way call tell my former boss that basically everything he said was BS.

I wouldn't have met my wife had I been working there so it worked out. Likely the best thing that could have happened, but it just really pissed me off how they basically attempted my ruin my life when I earned every cent I made there.

Closest I came to being fired was when I was 20 working at Hobby Lobby about 9 months before joining the USAF. I had worked there when I was in High School as a stock man and when I re-applied I was given a floor manager position. I'm thinking "Wow a manager position that's a pretty good jump." However being a manager of half a store almost the size of Wal-Mart with no-one to work for you but yourself can be kinda rough.

I asked around to the employees I had worked with that were still there and they explained that the manager was trying to meet a quota for a bonus at the end of the year and that he wouldn't hire anyone to help me out because of this, after a month of falling behind on almost every project that needed to get done and working plenty of overtime I punched out half way through my shift threw my vest down at my managers door because he was out of the building on the companies time doing personal stuff and walked out.

I got a lip from one of the brown nosers when I came back to pick up my last check, I figured it wasn't worth making a scene and just took my check and left. The important people knew why I left.

Only have been fired once. I was an RA in college. I made it as an alternate because I wanted free meal plan and Room! Had to try!

I was the worst RA because I didn't really invest a lot of time in my hall. I was also the Co-President of the Rugby team and if any of you know anything about College Rugby, well, let's just say I wasn't the best example.

Anyways, I had a habit of using my master key to get into my girlfriends room late at night when she wanted me in there. Request only! Well, one night he suite mates (other side of the same room) complained about me getting in and abusing my powers. My GF was also an RA. I was fired mid semester. I and my buddies blamed her and her roommates for getting me in trouble and not defending me as much as I should have.

Fired 1/2 way through fall semester. No money because no loans taken out. I spent the remainder of the fall and spring semester bumming around friends spare beds and houses. Had a blast and partied my ass off. The girlfriend went on to become my wife. All worked out in the end.

I was 19 and in community college with one seasonal job that was coming to an end. I saw on the job posting board at school a "youth indoor soccer instructor" for a program that runs hour long classes for kids wanting to play soccer. The younger groups (4-6) we more or less just classes that got the kids running around with mom and dad and doing stupid kid shit. I looked forward to the later morning classes as that was when we actually played soccer and did drills with the older kids. Now mind you, I hadn't played soccer in almost 15 years, plus at the time I thought it was a "pussy sport". The manager hiring me knew this, yet because I coached hockey she thought I would fit in well (her first mistake).

This job was basically a joke. I started at the inception of the program essentially making cold calls to families about our free 1st day event and how the program was great for child social development and was rather cheap. They had some mid-20s coaches who were from the UK (as they actually coached in the youth club teams in the area) that were typical euro futbol douchebags (think clubber types) who did nothing but punch in and hang out in the offices. The program was also ran like shit as the manager couldn't do the basic manager duties such as scheduling or running a program. I actually taught from the program's lesson plans (this was a franchise that had its own lesson plans) but at times half assed it checking out all the moms and just doing dumb things (like how high can I kick the soccer ball and see where it lands). One Saturday morning I woke up at 7am, sat up in bed, looked at my phone to stop my alarm, looked back at my clock and it now read 8:32am. Some how I fell right back asleep sitting up and now am late for my first class that started at 8. I called my manager explaining what happened saying I could be in within a half our and she said I wasn't needed that day and we would talk on Monday. Okay, no big deal she understood and I'd just get a lecture.

She called me Monday telling me that I was no longer needed and she was letting me go as she couldn't "depend on me to be their for a class". Mind you, I was there from the start, worked a ton of classes per the lesson plans (which many other instructors didn't do), brought in business and never had a single complaint; plus this was my first time oversleeping. So, I ended up getting fired as a soccer instructor.

Whatever, soccers ***....

I had a job at Frank's Nursery & Craft back in high school that I got fired from twice before I finally quit of my own accord.

It starts with a crazy cold snap after mounds of snow and me having to be at work by 7am on a Sunday morning. My POS car at the time had the worst time trying to start...finally does at ten minutes to seven. I go to put it in drive and the gear shifter snaps off like an icicle. I run back in the house to call my boss and tell him what happened.

He wants me there within the hour or I am fired. I am not walking over two miles in sub zero temps for a six hour shift at three dollars an hour...so he fires me for not showing.

About a week later...I am over at a friend's place that also worked there. Bossman calls him up saying so and so was sick and could he come in. My friend tells him that he and his girl have a date that included unrefundable theater tickets. Half joking...I yell out that I'll come in if I can have my job back. My friend passes the phone over and bossman asks if I can be there by five.

Fast forward a month to the holidays. Big bossman is taking the last two weeks of the year off, but makes a schedule that has us covered to mid January. December 30th...the assistant manager changes the schedule to add two more people to open the store at 7am New Years Day.

(Because you know how busy a plant store is going to be at 7am on New Years Day)

I was one of the lucky two and made a huge protest as I was still stuck taking a bus that would not be running that early on a holiday. The assistant once again gives me the show up or your fired bit...only I am not convinced he has that kind of authority. He fires me, but it only lasts until the manager gets back and chews him out for changing his schedule and puts me back on it.

I quit a month later due to lack of hours and a total lack of respect for management.

I have fired over 100 people in my life so far and I will say this: If you don't like your job and/or realize you hate it early on in the process-just quit. Best part about America is that you don't have to work here! I tell all my new employees this on day one in orientation! Don't be a walking, bleeding wound all over the business. Just leave.

I love guys that get a master key and get in trouble. Usually puts many thousands of dollars in my pocket.

I've been laid off, but not fired, but it's essentially the same thing. My boss hated me, and the feeling was mutual. It was a union gig, so I got called back when business picked back up, but I moved on. Great paying gig for someone in their 20s. I decided to go to college so I could know it all, be in debt, and still not amount to shit.

I just need to find a bathtub, some vicodin and razors. Need to put some Elliott Smith on the iTunes as I turn the bathwater red.

I got let go, not fired. Hella long story that a few of you know. I wasn't doing anything wrong for the business. In fact, I was making the dude I was working for money he never knew was there to be had before. Got an email saying they were going in a different direction. After a few weeks, I found out they got another guy to do what I was doing. Joke was on them, though. All the work they took from me and gave to an outside company. I called that company cause I figured they just picked up a bunch of work and I was hired immediately. Had they kept me as their contractor, it would have been cheaper. Now I was making near what I was before, doing less actual work, and using less of my own fuel and such. On top of it, I was doing all the stuff that was taken away from me to begin with.

Married, No kids, never been fired. My company so far has kept me in my niche of being one of the best "doers" in site and land design, and kept me as far away from management as possible.

As long as that holds I won't be looking to walk away.
