Sorry brole :( shit happens. You're a good, smart guy and I'm sure the situation wasn't pretty... But I know you'll be okay. One door closes so another can open.

Edit: nvm, just read the the rest of the thread..

I've had to fire people... that always sucked... sometimes they get all chocked up and you know how hard it is... tough thing to do.

Unless I didn't like the ******... then I would record it on my phone and play it back over beers with my friends.

I've never fired anyone but when I was teaching and chair of the department, I had to face a committee to have my contract re-upped, and my secretary was on it. I almost fired her because she wouldn't let students use our printers but was glad I didn't, lol. I did have to kick a couple students out of school and that sucked.

And the above was a joke by the way.... would never do that... breaks your heart to have to let someone go... especially if you know they have a family.

Also, I had to fire people too. That does suck, but it comes with the territory in management. MOST persons fire themselves, but then you get those cases when you know they just ran into a lot of personal problems, and it becomes you or them, as far as following company policies. I really hated I9 implementations and putting human beings in the middle of a political fight.

This is true... they usually know exactly why it happened... and were not surprise. However budget cuts where you have to rack and stack who stays and go's are the worst.

I was fired once, in college. I worked in a pizzeria. Made dough, sliced up ingredients, mixed up the pizza gravy, tossed dough and made the whole pizza pies, did a little delivery, all that good wholesome shit. Then I wanted to party one weekend and told my boss i needed that shit off and he said he really needed me and I said i wasn't gonna be in. I didn't show up, he got super pissed but I came back and worked for a couple of weeks before he told me he was still pissed off for that shit and fired me. I got free pizzas for the next two years from the place anyhow and I consider that my severance because there was no legit HR processes for that place so fuckit.

that reminds me of a bbq place I worked at my fresjman year after college (their slogan was "nobody beats our meat"). One morning I didn't feel like going in so I told my boss my car broke down. Then he showed up at my place and offered me a ride.

I had been at a job for almost four years.
I had a pinched nerve in my neck that was getting worse and worse and making my arm not work correctly.
It was really bad one day so I called in to take a vacation day. The next day was still bad but I decided I would try to work and if I couldn't I would go to the hospital.
Walked in and my boss was waiting for me at my toolbox. I was thinking "Great, I can tell him my plan."
He fired me for "poor performance" before I could even say anything.
Now I am at a much better job, closer to home, making lots more money.
I had the same nerve issue come up a few years ago.
Boss told me take time off, see a doc, and get fixed and healed up.
2 months of no work, MRIs, nerve meds, and therapy.
Went back to work and got a raise "for busting my ass to get back to work".
Old job does work for me now and I've poached some of their best.
F 'em!

Thats fucking awesome

Someone sounds butthurt

not at all. i won that shit last year, so that's cool. I just find your sense of humor rather humorless is all, and if someone shares that with you, I wouldn't think that highly of them as well. It's no big deal, and I hope you understand that it's just a matter of taste and opinion, purely subjective on my part.

I would rather have my body eaten by wild dogs than buried on the south side

Southside is all I know Ommy. That cemetery is my 2nd home.

and BB, there's only one or 2 benches in that place. I rest on em when I go for runs. I'll build more when I die.
