Re: Offseason Transactions

I don't get why seemingly everyone thinks Huet is a slice of swiss cheese. I am not saying he'd give Roy a run for his money, but he is a serviceable goalie. In fact, This was first year Huet was under 8.95, and Roy has had a few of those as well.
Putting him in the Rock is ridiculous. First off, that is no way to treat a vet. 2nd, he is a not that bad. 3rd, sure, maybe he ain't worth 5.6 million a year, but when you call him up (you know they will have to) back to Chicago, he will have to pass waivers(right?). And while he may not be worth 5.6 mill, but he may be worth 2.8 or million to another team, and we will still be on the hook for 2.8, and that can't be what with the cap.
Rockford is not an option.[/quote]
First off this is a big boys league. If he can't play at that level in the NHL and hurts the team Rockford most certainly is an option. Second why would they "have too" recall him? They wouldn't as long as Rocky is willing to eat his salary that way verses BUYING HIM out and taking a CAP HIT FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS. In fact that's the BEST scenario for Huet unless they find a sucker to trade him out right. The Buyout hurts the team, while reassigning him to Rockford does not. He could easily leave there for the KHL without us eating ANYTHING!
Rockford most certainly is an option. You can bet the hair you are going to shave off they've talked about it, verses buying him out (eating 1/4 of the salary for the next FOUR YEARS), and or recalling him and eating half the salary for two more years.
