As speculated by many:

Blackhawks will announce later today that they've hired Mike Kitchen as assistant coach. Mike Haviland also re-signed.

Apparently Beach knocked Olimb out for 4 months. Don't know the injury or how it happened, but it was tweeted by Jesse Rogers.

Edit: apparently it was during a fight. Olimb fell awkwardly on his shoulder.

From the 300 level

Olimb reported out for four months, needs surgery on his shoulder. He said to Norwegian media that he didn`t know why Beach went after him.

Beach is simply a moron. Someone needs to teach this kid a lesson. And I doubt getting beat up will do anything.

The first or second time? From what I've read Olimb was in two fights with Beach. The second time he went after Beach, which was the fight he was injured. Like I said I wasn't there but that what I came away with from reading the synopse of that day.

I could have sworn Seabrook kicked his ass in Training Camp year before last in the Red Vs White game in Rockford.

He will not pull shit like that playing with the leaders of the big club or he'll be put in his place fairly quickly.

I hate it when our guys fight each other. It's non-productive and totally unnecessary. I know guys are scrambling to make the team but I will always believe that actual hockey skills will make that determination and not whether you can drop the gloves.

Yep. Seabs gave him a pretty good beat down from what I remember.

It happened the other way around. Beach went after Olimb for the second fight. Olimb didn't even drop his gloves or his stick.

Happens in every teams prospect camp and training camp. It's no big deal and it means nothing.

Some of you guys are reading into it too much. Prsopect camps get gritty and tension and anxiety levels get high when you are competing for your career and you are young and full of energy.

Beach is the type of player that gets on an emotional high. It's actually a good thing to see. Will he have to tone it down a little bit? Of course he will. That's why you have professional coaches there and that's why you have vets on the team that can talk these kids right. He is going to be fine and he is in good hands.

Re: Hawks' Offseason Transactions

Man I had the worst nightmare last night. The hawks traded Sharp to the Toronto Maple Leafs and it was all over the morning news. I slept for approximately 6.5 hours but it feels like I slept for 2. I was tossing and turning all night long lol.

Now if I'm not a dedicated hawks fan, dreaming about off season transactions lol. I checked the sports page right away (well after i got a cup of coffee) glad it's not gonna happen.

Re: Makarov signs 2 year Deal

I get the feeling we're going to lose Sharp in all this and if that happens I will directly blame Niemi for not playing ball here. I've heard his agent several times now on the radio and he has made it very clear that his client is worthy of a hefty payday for winning the cup. If Hawks lose at arbitration we have a choice to pay Niemi and lose Sharp, or keep Sharp and walk-away from Niemi. And then we have no netminder and the choices available are all crap at that point. Anyone else feel like Niemi is holding this team hostage? I'm getting tired of it.

Re: Makarov signs 2 year Deal

Yea I don't buy Sharp is going anywhere. Center depth is CRUCIAL in any winning team. Probably one of most important components. Without it you don't win the Cup. Sharp > Niemi, both as a player and as a Cap hit. Sharps 3.9 mil contract is Phenominal compared to some of the other contracts out there with similar production.

As far as Niemi holding them hostage, he's looking out for himself and once his name is on the Cup can anyone really blame him? Who knows if he was a one year phenom? It's only 64 games. I remember Mason just lighting it up in Columbus and falling flat on his face. Not saying that's Niemi but 64 games is not enough to make or break a team in goal. While losing Sharp could be.
