He appears to be NHL ready but he wouldn't be getting the ice time he needs to get EVEN BETTER unless he was in Rockford. I am excited to be able to see him play live a few times this season, though!

Boynton is suspended for game one. CUllimore will be sent down sooner or later.

Precisely! In the end this is all for the best I feel---for him and the Hawks longer term. Same with Makarov, Lalonde, Beach, and Vish. Jeremy will get some call ups soon enough and he'll be like a little cool, refreshing Rockford breeze blowing in on the lakefront when Q is completely frustrated with someone who isn't working out chemistry-wise, someone who keeps willfully brainfarting on the ice, or someone unfortunately is injured.

And really, barring Morin becoming injury-prone I still believe that ATL will eventually come out of the mega-trade with the sucker's hand on the deal. :D

So much for worrying about some team claiming Potulny.

Roster should be set now.

Just read in a Swedish newspaper that Stålberg was sent down to Rockford. I guess that most be a missprint. With Potulny placed on waivers we are pretty much set right?

Sending Stalberg down would create room for Morin. I think he earned a spot in camp. I tend to agree it was a misprint though, if Stalberg got sent down there would be news of it in the local Chicago papers.

Two Rumors... Maybe Eklund will not pick up on them....

Campbell for Gomez, giving Hossa a true Center that can get him the puck. (not a knock on JT but it will allow some pressure to be taken off JT and he can go back with Kane and Sharp)

Other was Jay Mckee not sure who for. Skille Maybe.

The one coming up with these rumors musn't be too up to date. McKee is UFA and is currently working as volunteer assistant coach for some team.

Re: Hawks' Offseason Transactions/Rumors

If true, interesting that the Hawks are shopping Soup right now given the issues with defensemen we are seeing. Right now, the biggest question mark i have about this team is depth at defense.

Yes, we have the best top four blueliners in the league, but if one goes down (as we see right now) all we have are guys that really can not play top four minutes. As i have pointed out, these are all guys who make the league minimum (Cullimore, Scott, boynton, Hendry).

We can only afford to pay the league minimum to the bottom guys because of the salary cap, and the fact that Soup, Kane, Toews, hossa, and Keith are all mega cap hits.

Although Soup is a good defenseman and eats up minutes, that cap his is brutal. If we can dump it, great, but we will have to pick up a number 4 and 5 defenseman as a result who can play 15-20 minutes. Adding Gomez's cap hit wont allow that.

I really question whether this team needs another good forward, especially when the issue with blue line depth is obvious. So why trade one of your good defenseman for a good forward, when you should be thinking about trading one of your forwards for a defenseman (or two)?

but of course i do realize the need to dump Soup's cap hit if at all possible, then make the necessary moves after that to fill holes. Or Maybe Gomez and Soup would be part of a three-team deal? For the record, im good with our crew of forwards, and would think about getting a left wing before a center.

My thinking has been, the Hawks would love to dump Soup, but that "pick 7 teams" trade thing makes it hard. But they have been trying (including last fall and over the summer). At the latest, when Leddy is ready for 20 minutes a night in the NHL, Soup and that brutal cap hit are gone, even if it requires Stan to play some hard ball.

Gomez and Soup have almost the identical Cap hit. Gomez has two years less on his contract.

Could be thinking of getting Hossa a play making Center, who knows.

Just something I heard.

If it was the same source who gave you the McKee rumor then I would take it with a huge grain of salt. Gomez caphit is 7.3m, so .2m higher than Soupy's. And I don't see it either with the Hawks questionable defense. You can't have Keith clocking 30+ mins every night, with Soupy back the second pairing could ease that load.

Gee thanks for the advise Rosh. Not that I really give a shit I always take it with a grain of salt verses rummaging around on the web and posting every thing I can find.

Like I said they are almost identical in value but thanks for pointing out it's 200k higher. Hawks have about 400k in Cap Space so it's doable. And I just heard Mckee, there was no trade attached I guessed Skille, but since you pointed out he's not signed then that was my bad for guessing they meant trade.

Again next time you talk to Scotty Bowman Rosh ask him how he see's Campbell.
