The good deal about Saad is he avoids the new 6 game rule for players that young this season, and can just be sent back to Rockford and called up as necessary.

It'll be interesting to see when camp opens sunday and I'll try my best to be there, but to me this team does not need so many questions surrounding it. This team was 5 wins away from another 50 wins, we really just need some minor tweaks and a fire lit under these guys asses.

I vote bench clearing brawl to start the season, Emery knocks player unconscious and is thrown in jail.....all of the sudden they are a fucking TEAM.

Well I certainly hope he would finally bring some mojo then because he hasn't carpe'ed the fucking diem out of the opportunity to really shine for the Hogs so far. Since his early season injury I still see his Pro game as inconsistent---all the talent, all the IQ, all the physique---they're all there but not motivation every game. Nothing in his game has regressed but I expected more than what I have seen. I was hoping to see if he could shine in the AHL. Nevertheless, he does have a .500 PPG pace which is respectable for a rookie technically and more importantly I am sure the Hawks will give him every opportunity to make the team though there's been other Hogs who have been consistently better than him so far but unfortunately for them, they aren't what I see as projected Top 6 help so he has that edge on them from the get-go.
Oh I wasn't saying he'll be there, or that he has played well enough to be there, just that I want to see him there. Other than fucking me in the fantasy league last year (my fault really) I just like the kid for some reason, just like some folks around here have a stalboner... I have a Saadboner... wait... that doesn't sound good.

It's a short season, I say we just run with 4 or 5 dmen, double shift them all and carry 10 centers on the team and play whichever one is playing the best. Hell, Q is going to play 10 people at center anyway, might as well at least have them all be centers.

As hilarious as that sounds, its about the truth.

The Oduya signing was a headscratcher, he is what Keith, Leddy, & Hammer are--a poke-checking d-man that hits seldomly--and really, only Keith is good at that game (When he's not the inspiraion for the NHL 11 pass-to-nowhere™). Leddy has potential but it seems to me that he needs a Seabrook-type player paired opposite of him to thrive, since Hammer and Keith eren't working. Oduya with him was marginally better and Oduya wasn't that good. The net result from re-watching some games was d-men playing their off-hand making bad, bad outlet passes that were intecepted, and let's not forget the attacking players on Craw/Razor's doorstep taking up to 5 whacks at the puck and no one (Except Seabs when he was out) giving them reason not to.

Oh, I love his game too and I have nothing but high hopes and expectations for the kid but nothing with me has changed since he was drafted which is I want to see him playing Pro if he's proven he's ready to play in the Pros (whether AHL or NHL). He proved with his last season in Saginaw that he was ready to at least move to the Pro level with the AHL as he looked like a man amongst boys out there. I am not fully confident he's ready to move on to the NHL and contribute at THIS juncture (but it's not like that stops the Hawks because hey, it's not like Frolik contributes during reg. season either! LOL). Eh, we'll just have to wait and see what the Hawks do this week. It's a tougher or more high-risk call this time as opposed to when he shone in the 2011 camp because there's no pre-season games to also shine in and determine if someone can earn a looksee in the first few regular season games before being sent back down. This time if he has a good camp but not actual game competition it's going to be a blind leap thingy with the Hawks coaches. This is why I am personally giving weighted importance to how players have been playing during and leading up to the end of the lockout because that's all I have to go by so far but that don't mean the Hawks are giving it the same weighted importance, LOL LOL!

I feel these season as a whole for all teams will really inhibit a lot of the youth because with it being such a short season it is not going to be much of a development year because every game is going to count that much more and you don't have time to figure out if a guy is going to cost you games or not. I think they will lean hard on vets for all the minutes they can squeeze out of them and come time for the playoffs it will still seem like the middle of the season.

I think this year for all teams...you'll see a really good game...then a real shit game, due to playing 3 games in 4 nights type of travel/schedule

You'll have to forget about the game the night before win or lose quickly...and no 10gm losing streaks this year.

Here is a random stupid question that I should know the answer to but am too lazy to look it up. I don't believe it has happened because i would have heard about it through the bulls but has the circus come to town? Will there be a circus trip this year? I believe its sometime this month or next, at least it won't be a west coast trip but with the condensed schedule can we assume more games during that road trip? If they really are doing all divisional games schedule it would be fun to see them do a back to back at detroit or st. louis or soemthing like that then move on to the rest of the cities.

Yea I am really bummed that we'll see no one from the east. But a cool back to back to back to back schedule like that could be cool. to back to back

Johns? Has he left Notre Dame in the last 24 hrs.?

No... Jaeckal has no clue what he's talking about 99% of the time..

I like Johns a lot but lets be realistic for a second... this is a kid that has skipped out on every prospects camp to stay at school. Now he's going to jump ship with one year left? I don't buy it.

Considering that the circus usually is at the UC in November, it's unlikely.

However, isn't the UC usually booked for College Baskeball in March? That might be a long road trip.

Not usually, they do a rotation of venues, and even so it's usually only thursday to sunday so worst case would be wednesday (practices?) to sunday and back on monday.

I guess my real concern should be... without hockey they needed to fill a lot of dates with a lot of stuff. SO how much did they fill and how hard will it be to schedule around them and the NBA. I mean if the bulls have a home stand and they filled the other nights with concerts or something because they thought it might be empty otherwise, that could be a long roadtrip right there?

Looking at the calendar of events, I guess I answered my own question. From Jan 25th to Feb. 14th, there are only 2 open home dates. (Ice Capades are in town) Yes 2. So if they don't get at least one of them, they are going to go 16 days in a condensed schedule without a home game.

Big Ten Mens basketball tourney is back in the UC. but march isn't as packed... April isn't bad, but that calendar doesn't include any private events or other shows that they don't list. Which I assume is not many. This scheduleing is going to be fucking intersting, I feel sorry for the crews who have to change the floor every day for a week straight. http://www.unitedcenter.com/calendar/?MONTH_CHOICE=1&YEAR_CHOICE=2013

Don't know. Nor do I endorse jackass, although I did repeat it. wouldn't be the 1st time a player left college during the season to join an NHL cluib though.

Thanks for the source of that rumor.

Well, to be fair he did attend his first Prospects camp that summer right after he was drafted, LOL! Anyhoo, I agree about Johns. I have gotten ZERO sense from this kid that he is interested in anything other than getting his whole Notre Dame! experience and education. He's one of the few college/college-bound prospects who I get an "actually may want to graduate from college" vibe about. I don't think he or his camp will worry about Pro hockey until it's time to actually do something. But I guess anything *could* be rumor.

Why? One of the main cries about the lockout was the little guys who are getting screwed, at least they got work, I'm sure they are pretty happy.
