Sharp doesn't matter to the team. Chicago will never win a cup until they bring back MARK BELL!

Who, in turn, replaced Mike Meyers.

Did you guys hear that Sharp should be back for Det.

He's going to replace Pisani who is afraid to play anymore because Thornton took a run at him.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Then what do you do when you have someone who has had multiple concussions? Someone might hit him in the head and he will be out longer than usual only because he has a past history of concussions -- do you punish him for that even though he is not the sole reason for the injury?

Just have it set in stone. 5 games for the first offense, 5 games + fine for the 2nd offense, 10 games for the 3rd offense, etc.. etc.. Doesn't have to be those numbers but just an example. They do that and it will be consistent. No one would complain about that.

You start suspending players for the duration of an injury and you give the other team some power to dictate how long they are out for. It's even more inconsistent than the way they currently handle things and the NHLPA would never go for it anyway. It doesn't make sense, you want to replace something inconsistent with something more inconsistent.

Throw out the gray areas, forget the "intent" and "injury" factor. Put the line in place, right now there is no line, but a giant gray area which is why it is so inconsistent. There are too many factors. Oh he didn't intend to hurt him... oh well this player wasn't injured.... oh well this player was injured for too long. Who care's about that, was the hit illegal/dangerous or not? That's all that needs to be said.

That's why the determination for play should be done by a league official doctor, and not the team's doctor. Thye already have criteria for when a player is ready after getting concussed, so as soon as a league doc concludes they've passed that test, suspension is over.

IMHO, what I think is inconsistant is that, in this case, Kubina is still playing and Bolland isn't.

Not that Bertuzzi needs any support, but I didnt think he should be suspended.

Johnson was fine. He got a 5 and a game. I think if he was hurt/connected with the elbow...he wouldve been suspended. I think it looked worse than it really was.

It doesnt help that Bertuzzi is 6'4 and Johnson 5'8....and plays low to the ice.

As far as Bertuzzi's "past" is another story and he's been relatively clean since the incident. I heard the "probation" period after his suspension has long passed, giving him a clean slate. Its not like Avery, Cooke or that Gillies to an extent - that continued to push rules after suspensions.

The hit was on the edge, he was penalized during the game, the team was penalized...its over.

If this were last year, or any previous year, I would agree completely that a 5 minute major would have sufficed. Hell, 2 years ago, It would have been a minor. The only thing that bothers me is the League talking out both sides of it's sphincter. Was there a head shot?....Yes. Was he injured?....doesn't matter, see question #1. That said, I can't wait to see Kubina get blown up.

First off after seeing all the replays I do agree that Bertuzzi's punishment on the ice was sufficient.

Just wondering how Avery "continues to push the rules" after a suspension that was completely unrelated to hockey?

There are two things that could be considered "pushing the rules" and that was the sucker punch on Smid (only 'cheap shot' in his career) and the Avery rule for getting in Brodeur's head and playing within the rules at the time.

How you lump Avery into the same discussion as Cooke and Gillies is pretty comical. That being said, I wouldn' even put Cooke and Gillies in the same discussion because Cooke is actually a pretty good player where Gillies is just a thug with no talent who tries to hurt people.

Do you want a video montage of Avery's dirty hits? Really?

Feel free to "youtube" any of his hits from behind, sticks to the face

And then there's his off ice comments, his Dallas teammates hated him, the black book/hooker stuff...

Class act. Why would he be lumped in....come on.

Oh come on... if he was that dirty he would have been suspended by now considering his off ice antics. Who gives a shit about the Stars? The Rangers players like him and go to his *** fashion shit in the off season and he hangs out with Lundqvist and Callahan all the time off the ice.

I can add one more "dirty" play to Avery's loooooooooong rap sheet as you'd like to make it out to be and that's the slash to Komisarek who more than deserved it.

I don't see how tapping Thomas on the back of the head with his stick is attempting to injure anyone... still looking for a dirty hit highlight reel.

He's been fined for diving, made cancer related remarks to Blake and was fined for his role in that pregame fight. A week earlier...he had a pregame fight vs NJ.....so did he learn?

He may french-canadien slurs to Gautier when he played for PHX...the same season, was accused of racial slurs to Laraque when he was in EDM

Feel free to defend him.
