I wonder if Obama will play and get a tooth knocked out? He has gotten a few sports injuries.

I'm going to rain on this parade and say the team doesn't need this distraction. Bettman had a whole season to schedule this; it didn't need to come during the run for the playoffs.

Oh, you can be certain that McD was involved in this charade as well.

Seeing way too much into this, the Lakers made their visit also when they made there only trip to Washington. (IT CALLED LOGISTICS)

Relax! If the Hawks do not do well it will not be because of a visit to the White House.

I guess those other 23 visits here them?

MassHavoc, if you don't want me to have that link in my signature...then you have to tell these guys to quit thinking like the guys on the OB

You'd be incorrect. But I said that above. It had NOTHING to do with the Hawks. But when the Sitting President requests something most people don't say "no". No matter the President in question.

Exactly.

Good fucking grief people must everything be turned into some sort of thinly-veiled political invective or McD hate-a-thon? Pettiness wears horribly like a cheap poly-blend sport suit. There is ZERO out of the ordinary about this visit---when teams wins championships some make it to the White House soon after their wins and some make it much later after their wins. Period. There is no rhyme or reason to it and certainly no socio-political shenanigans. The White Sox didn't have their formal WH honoring until 5 months after their WS win. The Lakers won in June of 2009 and didn't go to the WH to meet with the President until they were on an East coast swing deep into their new season until the end of January 2010---oooh. . .those "evil bastards" Stern and West, GMAB. I might add that their one day visit last January clearly didn't "distract" the Lakers from defense of their title come June of 2010 so that argument is bullshit IMO.

This visit is NOTHING more than:

1. The White House/POTUS traditionally honors championship-winning teams

2. The Blackhawks won the last SC

3. The Hawks celebrated with the Cup all over the world during the off-season. The short off-season ended and then it was time for Training Camp, pre-season, then the new season

4. During this new season the Hawks will be swinging through DC for a game. Location is everything!

5. The First Lady is from Chicago

6. The sitting President is the still the fucking POTUS whether folks like or loathe him and that still actually means something not to mention he just so happens to be an adopted son of Chicago

Sheesh {{{slaps head}}}

Thank you Bookie. This was always going to happen the second the Hawks won the cup. I didn't matter who the President was and it was always going to be when the Hawks played the Caps in DC. The President called Kane the day of the parade of course he was going to invite the Hawks. This won't distract the Hawks a bit.

You see I do have a couple of problems with it. First off the Hawks won the Stanley Cup 7 months ago. If the President of the United States really wanted to honor them then JULY was the time to do it. NOT near the end of the season where they are supposed to be FOCUSED on winning it again. It's unacceptable and a completely inappropriate time.

My second problem, probably more supersticious is the Stanley Cup is going to be there. The Cup I want NOTHING TO DO WITH until we win it again. Our time, or the Blackhawks time with the Cup is over. It's past, won, had for a day or two, and OVER. I hope not one of them TOUCH it. I understood it being at the UC on opening night because in the history of the building it had never been there, BUT it's over! It's time to win it again.

Sorry but IMO this is just another distraction this TEAM does not need.

Ironically ALL of the SC winning team were invited. Let's see how many of these OTHER teams allow SC members to attend. I'm guessing here on NONE of them show up. Maybe I'm wrong, but we'll see. The Flyers boys, versteeg and Boynton already turned down the invite.

There are more important things at stake right now. It couldn't be a worse time to honor them IMO.

Well of course most of the departed players are not going to attend as they all have games that night excepting the Philly guys. Eh, Versteeg and Boyton don't or can't make it then that's on them or the Flyers organization same as it was for the departed players in regards to the ring ceremony.

As for your superstition, well I can't fault you for that as it's just the way you feel plain and simple. I am of the opinion that championships in any sport are hard won and the winner is free to relish and revel in the rewards of their efforts and achievement as they see fit. To my mind a person or team owns their title and/or trophy be it the Stanley Cup, the Lombardi Trophy in football or the fucking Venus Rosewater trophy for Wimbledon and all the trappings that come with winning until someone rightfully supplants their ass.

As to the whole distraction issue, all I will say is that IMO if a team can point to a lone day of photo-oping with the POTUS and FLOTUS and a little street hockey with some kids as "The Day" when their mojo started unraveling horribly then they probably don't have the mettle to successfully defend in the first place and also don't deserve to win. In fact, if they did proffer up anything close to that kind of weakass blame game sauce one they returned to Chicago I'd be the first person begging them to drop trou so that I could see with my own eyes the post-op transexual reassignment surgical scars from where their balls and dicks were removed. I honestly don't see how a team being in DC and spending a few hours at the WH has to do with any fucking potential lack of game and playoff mental fortitude---barring injuries a team will either have the talent and WILL to win or not. No one is asking the team to have a weekly "to do" like something on the logistical magnitude of a White House visit every week until the playoffs start. It's just some national pride PR for a few hours to my mind.

I agree with a lot of that. The time to do this was 7 MONTHS AGO. When the team was still whole, and they had just won it.

7 months later is just a bunch of bullshit IMO. Because it's fucking convenient? Bullshit. The entire team was here for the Parade. They could have EASILY gone to DC the next day.

They are in the midst of a huge streak, trying to recapture what they had. Sure let us relish in the past and potentially **** things up for the future.

Why? If Obama wanted to Celebrate the SC Champs his time to do it was LONG AGO.

You hit the nail on the head there as far as I'm concerned . It has nothing to do with me not liking the potus . The time to do this has long since passed.
