Sure but top that off on to everything else they are doing. Chevy commercials, Bauer stuff, signings and appearances.. Ect ect....



Not to mention the Cup being there. That's my big issue.



Done deal so oh well... Shame it wasn't done at the appropriate time.

Whats wrong with the players touching the Cup anyway? They are the Champs after all.



The only thing that is dumb about this is the fact that the entire Cup winning team will not be there, other than that... who cares. People are acting like they are going straight to the Caps game immediately after visiting the White House. This isn't the first time, nor will it be the last time our team will have to deal with a public appearance mid-season. If that prevents them from focusing the rest of the season then that is fucking stupid. When was the last time the guys got to do something like this anyway? I can't even remember.

Last I checked, no one else has won the Cup since the Hawks have. There is a reason the phrase is "Defend the Cup", it's theirs until someone else wins it.



I understand what you are saying though, I just don't agree with it.

Unfortunately most NHLers agree with him.



Remind me what team you've seen "with" the Cup during the next season? Starting off with JT skating it on the ice to Start the season was more than enough.



I could care less OTHER than it's another distraction they don't need, and we are in the middle of a HUGE RUN!



Sopel is meeting them there.



And I must add DON'T ever ***** about the ticket prices because it's things like this they use as excuses or expenses to RAISE the price. You do realize the Hawks are flying/chartering an entire plane load of people for this event right? Who do you think pays for that, the Hawks? LOL!!!!! Excuse me while I make the 6700$ playoff ticket payment right now.

Whats so distracting about it? They aren't going out of their way to do this. It's literally taking a few hours out of their lives to hang out and relax. I just don't see a big deal about it.

When they all add up, they are all distracting. Not to mention it's an event with the Stanley Cup.



Strange you play hockey yet have no superstitions. Eh to each his own, I'd have rathered this was BEFORE the new season started.

I have my superstitions, I just don't think this is one of them. I agree with the whole "don't touch the Cup unless you won it"... but in this case, they won it... its theirs until they lose it.



I would have rather had it before the season as well, but maybe Obama just couldn't fit them in his busy schedule... probably had a speech errr something...? lol



If they lose most of their games after this event, then I'll agree its a terrible distraction, but I won't hold my breath.

Funny thing you say that, because I touched it, hugged it, kissed it... everything that was legal to do... in January 2010, even told it when it went back in its case that I'd see it back in Chicago during the summer.

My belief is --- if you've won it at least once, you can touch it or do anything with it however many times you feel like it. You've earned it.
