Cubs are believed to have gotten heyward for less than $200M. Apparently taking less to be at addison and clark. @GDubCub 1st

It's both weird and awesome that people are apparently taking less to come to the cubs after the past several years.

Now the shuffling really starts....will he play CF or are the Cubs gonna move Soler for pitching? This will close the door on free agency so now they have to deal some assets.

Are people not excited about this, or are they just waiting to see for how much? I heard UNDER $200M.

Wouldn;t you rather have Price, Castro, Heyward for the same money?

I'm not a Cubs fan but I do enjoy watching them. I just hate Cardinals fans. The best part is if it's true he came here for less money, that will make STL fans rage even harder because they always think players are gonna take discounts to play for them. When in reality that never happens.

I'm happy with the deal regardless. I mean I basically wrote a book yesterday explaining why Heyward's WAR matters. I think it's some what fair to call him a complementary player. In some respects that is a bit of a backhanded compliment as he's not carrying a team. But consider how good he can be with Bryant, Rizzo and Schwarber behind him and presumably Zobrist in front of him. You damn sure don't want to walk him(which he has a very good walk rate) because putting him on with decent speed in front of those 3 power hitters... not a good idea. As such, he probably sees some better pitches because I feel like you'd rather pitch to him than the power guys. That plus he did play his home games in Atlanta and St. Louis which tend to be more pitching favored parks. Wouldn't shock me to see him hit 20 HRs this year.

What I'm super curious about is how his addition(and possibly others) plays with team ERA. Atlanta lost about half a run of ERA if memory serves after he left. St. Louis gained about half a run by getting him with Wainwright out. If the 2016 cubs get that kind of boost you could be talking about one of the all time pitching staffs because they were already very good. I'm not sure it will impact them that much but like I said... if it does...
