Wouldn;t you rather have Price, Castro, Heyward for the same money?

Honestly, I think no. Not because one side is vastly superior to the other. But more so because of the construction of the team. Price would put so much money on starters over 30 with him Lester and Arrieta that you get probably 3 great years then you're rebuilding your pitching staff some what. I like the idea they seem to be going with which is keeping 2 really good vets in Arrieta and Lester and hopefully mixing in a young guy via trade who one day becomes that good because for the next couple of years those two are front line starters and you can hopefully work a younger guy in with their experience and when they drop off some he picks up his game.

There's a rumor of a deal with Soler leading a deal to ATL for Enciarte and Teheran. If that happens would you still feel the same?

That would be an interesting trade.

I'm lukewarm on Teheran. He can get VERY walk happy...he went from 45 walks, to 51, to 73 last year! He also gave up 27hr last year.

I'd rather see them try to move Soler to CLE for Carrasco....or the dream of getting Sonny Gray

Nope, not me. Besides, as Diehard fan said, now it gets interesting as they fill in the details with smaller deals. Even the comparison I made is invalid - have to look at the whole offseason picture. I just like what I'm seeing so far.

Of course...that would fill all the holes but you know as well as I do that they'll have to include a lot more than Soler to make that work....more like Soler and Baez. If that's the case, then no....they can keep them.

My preference is Heyward in center.

Lolz. Heyward only just turned 26.

Terms of the deal will be interesting.

Cubs were favorite to win the World Series at 4/1 this morning before getting Heyward.

Still need some arms for the bullpen.

#Cubs have had trade dialogue with #Padres (Tyson Ross) and #Indians (Carlos Carrasco, Danny Salazar), sources say.

You know if Heyward will play CF and Soler in right....that's two really big time arms out there. Might help hide the fact that they won't cover as much ground out there.

I want to see the Cubs blow the roof off this offseason and trade for Chris Archer or Sonny Gray. Not sure how realistic that is, but they are already in talks with the Rays regarding Baez, the Cubs have a few high end prospects that are blocked for the next 8 years, so they should make use of their value and get Archer, who IMO has the best contract in baseball.

I assume you mean per year?

Because Cubs got Lackey + Heyward + Zobrist for about $268 million, Price + Heyward would have cost about $400 million

Per year of course, you can't look at total contracts and make comparisons.

Interesting side note, because the cubs have signed Lackey and Heyward the cubs are giving the cards 2 pick in next years draft. Not that it matters or anything but just found that sorta interesting. Cubs wont pick until the 2nd round at the earliest.

Heyward has posted 104 Defensive Runs Saved in RF over the last 5 years. Almost double the next closest player

I think he stays in RF....move Soler (who isn't the best player in the cold)...and get another arm for Soler
