I don't have ESPN Insider, but they have a tweet that says that Hossa is being shopped for cap space.

I'm not down with this, but I'm not sure anyone's biting on that especially with that long contract. I believe its 10 or 11 more years on it.

What do you guys think about it?

But thinking about it, we are in a world of hurt with this salary cap issue and we might lose more than a few key pieces in the offseason... so I'm not very sure.

I think it was a 12 year contract with 11 left now. It depends what they get for him but he will help for the next 5 years or so. But I'm not in favor of this. I think it will hurt the Hawks. But chnage always happen so we'll see what happens.

Like I said, I don't have Insider so I couldn't read the article.

It's just rumors. We'll find out soon enough.

Hossa was great for us, but it might make sense if it means getting a lot of guys back who did the little things.

Why would they do it so soon after the Stanley Cup, that would just anger fans.

Maybe, but his value is probably the highest right now it's ever going to be again.

I was in no way saying he was indeed being shopped, just speculating why the speculation would be speculated.

I'd take Hoss in a heartbeat. He'd make a nice Flyer :D.

But seriously, won't this be 4 teams in 4 seasons? Journeyman much?

I agree that this rumor is false. Probably a cleverly-worded headline by ESPN to entice you to buy an Insider account.

Just remind Hossa he won the Cup here and doesn't need to switch teams again.

Maybe, but his value is probably the highest right now it's ever going to be again.

He is coming off a season in which he missed significant time due to injury and also did not produce many points in the post season. He also is now starting to rehab an MCL injury. His long front loaded contract also decreases his value.

I think Hossa is our 2nd best forward as far as being an amazing 2 way player. He was one of out best players, as far as points per game, during the regular season. He also played great in the post season, even though he did not put up a ton of points if you watched every game you saw Hossa's impact. Hossa might also get some brownie points for having one of the best selling jerseys on the team.

I think moving Versteeg would be a smarter move. Steeger is more replaceable than Hossa and we could get much better prospects and draft picks for him because of his age. Also in my own opinion Versteeg is not going to improve much more in his career.

i would hate to see him go, but if we can get good talent in return then its ok, and also if we can sign our other players too.
