ESPN Insider is a load of crap. I know, because they picked up a rumor that was started as a joke by the guys at hockeenight.com. They run with every stupid bit that gets posted to the internet. Its worse than hockeybuzz.

Hossa won't be dealt simply because that would not bode well for the Hawks in the future. Players and agents all talk. When a player looks at where he wants to sign in free agency, he often looks at a place where he'd be able to raise a family. It would be very difficult to sign players with them thinking that they could be shipped out within a year of signing and have to completely uproot their family (again).

In addition to that, I think the Hawks have decided that he is a part of their core going forward. Hossa, Toews, Kane, and Keith are probably the only four "untouchables" this offseason. Every other player is open to discussion.

I doubt it...or we'd only sign him to like a 3-year deal. I like Hossa's hustle and heart, honestly. Keep him.

I don't buy the rumor.

However in the event that it were true (or change around the names)- you'd probably get no direct talent in return for him; as the entire point of it would be to clear cap space - which means draft picks ... otherwise, you would not be clearing cap space.

If we can't trade Soupy, we're not trading Hoss.

And there's no reason to do it.

BLASPHEMY!!! :p

As crappy as ESPN is on anything hockey, I still wouldn't mind reading it. But yea, no way it's happening. After watching the parade and everything Hossa did in the playoffs, it seems Hossa is another of Chicago's native sons.

At first I felt like this made sense. Then I thought about it. Then I slapped myself for considering it.

He's not getting traded. End of story.

Hossa just signed a huge long-term deal, he's not being shopped. It would be a mistake to trade him.

I can't find anything else on this this rumor. It is just ESPN so as of right now I save this is not real.

SI.com reported it the same day as ESPN.

The Blackhawks will surely enjoy a summer full of celebration, but there are also some well-known financial pressure points. The team has a multitude of stars, several of them coming off entry-level contracts, and is reported to have some $57 million committed to just 14 players for next season. There are contracts the team likely would love to unload -- Brian Campbell and Cristobal Huet come immediately to mind -- but it will be difficult. One of the more burdensome is the 12-year, $62.8 million deal ($5.2333 per) that belongs to Marian Hossa, a quality player who has been living off a succession of one-year deals in an attempt to find a spot on a Cup-champion (mission accomplished). Look for the Hawks to shop his rights as soon as the parade is complete.

Ok, well maybe it might make sense -in that the way Hossa's contract is set up, it might be easier to move than Campbell's -I still don't think they want a player back - or anything near the contract that they deal; but I suppose time to sit back and see what Stan can do.

I don't think Hossa is going anywhere -but I suppose it gives some guys something to write about.

Im prepared to lose some good players due to salary cap constrictions. But Hossa's cap hit is not bad and he has such a complete game. I mean value wise, Buff makes 60%(ish) of Hossas money but is only 30% of the player that Hossa is.

ESPN's Insider Rumors are alway bullshit, it isn't true, not when the front office said they were trying to make a dynasty.

I remember in the MLB's offseason they posted rumors of Big Z being about to waive his NTC in a deal to the Yankees, but then Z and Hendry denied it as well as Cashman, lol.

What these articles are doing, is taking every big contract and saying so and so could be moved. So the first names to pop up are Huet, Campbell, and Hossa. We all know Huet is gone, and its a slim possibly that Campbell goes anywhere. Hossa will not be leaving Chicago, not after signing a 12 year deal and winning a cup, I just dont see it happening.

Whoever wants to make the Stanley Cup Finals next season will do this. Hello Phil Kessel.
