I think there’s a limit to how many years in the future you can give up picks.

I’d seriously trade every pick available if we have to if it meant getting a top 5 QB in his prime.

It’d be pure insanity for the Texans to trade him away though.

Khalil Mack, Eddie Jackson and two 1st round picks
I think it might be more than that.

Cutler trade was two firsts+ and Watson is better and QBs are even more valuable in 2021

What is Deshaun going to win you? 2 maybe 3 more games a year? Let's say best case scenario we're 11-5, still in second place in the division, still a 3-4 seed in the conference. Best case scenario it turns out Chuck is a little downsy and the defense really isn't THAT bad. Yes, you trade for him but you're risking a lot because 2019/20 this defense has looked awful.

Compound that with potentially firing Pace/Nagy in 2021, what GM would want to come in with no 1st round picks for 'x' amount of years with Deshaun's crazy ass contract?

Ryan Pace has buried this team...

if HOU makes Watson available, Bears best be the first and only team to make an offer and that's everything, as long as they take Fuller off our cap space.

Houston was 4-12 with him this year. They lost their #1 WR and can lose their next #1 WR this offseason. They still need to build an OL outside of LT, and still need to build a defense. They got no early round picks this year and are over the 2021 cap as of right now. And they just hired a GM, who has never built a team before from an organization that hasn't produced many slam dunks once they've left Belichick.

I don't really see any avenue for them to really be much better in 2021. They can cut a bunch of people and get some space, but the biggest savings would be JJ Watt and Brandin Cooks, with an already bad defense and Fuller a FA, those would be huge losses. And if they're going to win 4-6 games again, they have to really hit on draft picks in 2022 and cheap FAs to get back to the contender they were the previous 2-3 years. So, it would be pretty tempting if Watson doesn't want to wait out a rebuild without Watt and Fuller, and they can get 3 1st rounders and multiple other picks for him.

Three wins is a HUGE difference, especially since you don't seem to be considering the fact that 1 or 2 of those wins could come over the Packers. The Bears went 1-5 in the redzone and a turnover on downs from the 25 last game. They left enough points on the board to win that with Mitch Trubisky. Watson most likely at least keeps them in it Sunday, wins Indianapolis, Detroit, Minnesota, maybe even New Orleans, Tennesee and LA Rams and they'd be playing the WFT this week in the playoffs at 11-5.

Also, the defense really isn't THAT bad. They are 12th in the league. That's still above average.

Lastly, Watson's contract is not crazy at all. His cap hit for 2021 is a meager 15.9Mil. People want to pay Trubisky that much money. It goes to 40.4Mil in 2022, but the Bears have 98M in estimated space that year can clear a TON of space that year anyway (Hicks, Graham, and Fuller, if not cut this year; Quinn, Massie, Leno, even Mack). After 2022, Watson only has 10.8M dead cap. You could cut him and save 30M, but why would you want to? 42M in 2023 is a lot (not for a top 5 QB), but then the last 2 years he goes down to 34 and 32Mil cap hit. And there's always the extension option after 2022. Give him more guaranteed money and possibly get him at a discount.

Mack for Watson, and throw this years 1st and next years 2nd. Watson is a stud!

Nagy probably wouldn't want him for his ultra difficult offensive system though ;-)

I’d give a huuuuge haul for Watson.
Leno
Massie
Graham
Quinn
Jackson
If they need more, then consider a couple draft picks.

Watson had a little stat padding this year in garbage time because his team was bad. I don't put him as a HOF type QB like Rogers, Manning or Brady. I put him in that second tier. Still very good though and probably capable of taking you deep in the playoffs with a good defense.

2021: 1st and 2nd
2022: 1st and 3rd
2023: 2nd

That's about as much as I would trade for anybody that is not a HOF QB, and those guys don't get traded early in their career.

If a team is getting rid of a franchise QB, its for a reason.

They won't in 2021 but they have to be thinking further than that. With how the NFL is trending, he could be playing into his 40s. You never see a top 5 QB in his prime traded because they are just so damn hard to find.

That's why the only way I see it happening is if Watson gets ugly and demands a trade.

They lost 9 one-score games, granted I'm not going thru to see which ones they made close at the end. In the 4 blowout losses, Watson's passing yards were 253, 275, 309, 219 (Bears). He had 300 yards in 8 of their 9 close games (and 3 of their 4 wins). Three of his 4 worst passing yardage games came in blowout losses.

Yeah, they aren't going to trade him just because they are bad. Didn't mean to imply that. But if a team offers up 3 firsts, a couple 2nds and a 3rd for him.....they have to consider it. Nobody has ever offered up that much in a trade before though.
