How fucking bad was the parking meter deal for the city? lol

If I am being frank, how the **** Daley isn't sitting in a jail over that deal is beyond me. It only speaks to how much dirt he has stored on everyone in the state that no one has gone after him for that deal.

DuPage isn't much better than Cook.

If I leaving Cook to go shopping, I'm going south.
I pay 8.25% in my particular town.

Cities like Lombard, Oak Brook have special tax rates on their shopping malls that put them in line with Cook, but elsewhere in those towns its compareable.

Or everyone was just in on it with him.

Which far as I know is quite illegal. But who cares if the City wastes a **** ton of money in futile litigation right? Not like were paying for it or anything like that. :obama:

I've heard rational arguments for it being legal on reddit... but I don't remember what it said.

Yeah but here is the problem with being the first city to test those waters. The city of Chicago is now going to be locked up in tons of litigation from cloud based companies that want to fight this before other cities decide to follow suit.

They used a ruling against lexisnexis in 1996 as precedent and... Combined it with the amusement tax? Shady as usual

Seattle and San Francisco are way way way way way way worse than Chicago.

This is true and it's getting worse in the Seattle and East Side burbs. I drive by ugly cookie cutter mini-mcmansion postage stamp neighborhoods with signs advertising that their generic shitbox houses start in the low 700s or low 800s.

I'm single, make a nice salary well over average for the country and I can't afford that shit. Not only that, but that's what their building around here now. Buy up several acres and slam as many houses in there as you can. I don't understand why you'd pay so much to live like that.

EDIT: Seriously, this shit starts at 900k

Rents in chi were reasonable 2006-10, don't know about since but have heard they are going up. We had a floorthrough in ukrainian village in 2008 for only $1k a month. That's a steal compared to a lot of cities

You in San Francisco or it's surroundings?

that's what i was thinking....if those homes were available at that price anywhere near me i would buy one. Actually, if those homes were available at that price in any reasonably decent neighborhood in the Bay Area I would buy ALL of them, and flip them within a month for $2.5mm/each.

So up to six bedrooms, green, 9 foot ceilings, 3,500-4,600 sq.ft. equals "ugly cookie cutter mini-mcmansion postage stamp neighborhoods with signs advertising that their generic shitbox houses"

Oh the hell it must be like living there, probably drug dealers and prostitutes on every corner.
