My base pay is a shade under 50,000. But, I work a lot of overtime. Or at least I use to. I'm on way to making 60,000.

The mean income of the U.S. Is about 52k. Looks like CCS is about 75% on the high side. Pretty good shape really. Way ahead of most of the planet. Welcome to the top 10% club.

See, what that says to me is that there's a lot of exaggeration going on. Internet tough guys can also be internet rich guys.

Gotta take into consideration where one lives. I live in California so my base pay is higher than an equivalent engineer in Texas. Also some of us have been working for 40 years so a 100K is not all that unusual.

Also those in IT......Cisco heads.......125K for a CCIE is the bottom of the payscale here in California. An MCSE is going to start near 100.....and thats right out of college.

Its expensive to be a Chicago sports fan.

I have spent the last couple decades doing independent contract work so I rarely pull in the same number every year and its getting smaller as I get older.

Best year of my life was $87K and I probably should have died that year. Worst year barely cracked thirty.

I hope you rich mofos will help an elderly poster out in another decade or so when I am forced into retirement and living in Mexico to make my savings last.

Geology was a lot more lucrative than I ever anticipated. Parents would always ask me what I was actually going to do with a geology degree. I said I didnt care, at least I would be outside hiking around loving the outdoors. I was over 100k in 8 years. Been with the same company for 10 years now though. Oh and I live in Denver. So not terribly expensive. REALLY not trying to brag (even though I am positive this comes out that way). But I would certainly push people towards geology.

Scoot, you think 100k is a lot of money. I'm betting there are a few that pay that much in ncome taxes
A few that post here? Doubt it. And that was more so my point. I don't doubt there are a few posters here who indeed make over 100k a year, but I don't think there are that many that do.

The ones that do would never tell you what they make. It's the ones that don't that always tell you. Not sure I understand why

That's right, in the Bay Area if you make $100k/year you are sharing a rental apartment. A $100k salary is far from impressive in a region like this where everything is monetarily inflated.

I have found this to be true in many walks of life, but especially so with money. Several friends became billionaires or half-B as execs of Tech companies that went public, and also long time hedge-fund principals and senior investment bankers - none of them talk about money.

Yeah, it's crazy out there. I'm pretty sure I could crush it from an annual salary perspective...but not nearly enough to have the same quality of life I do now. Probably need $2M+ to live in a comparable house.

I'm afraid it's turning into that out here. Bellevue/Redmond is skyrocketing again.

Weren't homes in Naperville sky high for a while as well?
